April 15-21, 2022 is the 28th National Cancer Prevention and Control Publicity Week. The theme of this year’s publicity week is “Cancer Prevention, Early Action”. In recent years, breast cancer is one of the most common malignant tumors of women in our city, and the incidence rate is increasing year by year. In 2021, our city will report a total of 3,027 new cases of breast cancer, including 3,002 women, 25 men, and the youngest breast cancer cases. Cancer patients are only 18 years old, and the peak incidence of female breast cancer is mainly concentrated in the age group of 40 to 74 years old.

For a long time, the Chronic Disease Control Section of the Linyi Center for Disease Control and Prevention is responsible for formulating the city’s chronic non-communicable disease prevention and control plans, plans, and programs, and organizes their implementation. Conduct behavioral risk factor surveillance, disease surveillance, death cause surveillance and special investigations of chronic non-communicable diseases. Organize comprehensive prevention and intervention in urban and rural areas; undertake relevant business training, technical guidance and health education.

Guo Xingzhen, a physician in charge of the chronic disease prevention department of the Linyi Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that in the statistics of past breast cancer cases, it was found that the risk factors for breast cancer were mainly physiological factors and genetic factors.

Physiological factors: Menarche younger than 12 years old, or menopause older than 55 years old; no reproductive history, or late first pregnancy and delivery; no breastfeeding history or women who breastfeed for less than 4 months , the risk of breast cancer is higher than the general population.

Hereditary factors: Women with immediate family members with breast or ovarian cancer are also at high risk for breast cancer.

In addition, people who use “estrogen” or “estrogen and progesterone combined” hormone replacement therapy for six months or more have an increased risk of breast cancer.

Guo Xingzhen pointed out: “Breast cancer can be recognized in the early stage, and you should pay attention to these symptoms.” Some early breast cancers can be felt on the breast, with a hard texture, unclear boundaries, moving Small, generally no obvious pain. However, some early breast cancers cannot be felt in the physical examination and need to be detected by imaging examinations. There are also some early breast cancer first symptoms of nipple discharge, especially bloody discharge should be paid enough attention.

In addition, if there are changes such as local sunken breast skin, nipple retraction, nipple erosion, nipple asymmetry or axillary lymph node enlargement, you should also pay attention to further examination.

Although the occurrence of breast cancer is greatly influenced by genetic factors, personal lifestyle still plays a big role. The occurrence of breast cancer can be effectively prevented by changing unhealthy lifestyles, such as the careful use of health products and hormone supplements; maintaining a normal body weight and avoiding overweight, obesity or excessive weight loss; reasonable diet, increasing the intake of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and dietary fiber Intake, control high-fat, red meat, refined grains and other foods; regular physical exercise; living a regular life to maintain a comfortable mood; smoking and limiting alcohol to avoid exposure to second-hand smoke; trying to give birth and breastfeeding at an appropriate age.

“Regular breast screening is an important measure for early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment of breast cancer. It is understood that in 2021, the rate of early diagnosis of breast cancer in our city will be over 80%.” Guo Xingzhen suggested that women aged 40 to 74 years should undergo mammography combined with ultrasound screening every year based on the results of recent studies on the incidence of breast cancer. People with high risk factors for breast cancer can be screened earlier than the recommended age. Mammography is not recommended for women under the age of 40 who have no clear risk factors for breast cancer or no abnormality in clinical examination.
