Chen Yannian (1898-1927), also known as Xia Yan, Huai, Anhui Province A native of Ning County in urban and rural areas (now Anqing City). revolutionary martyr. Chen Duxiu’s eldest son. One of the early leaders of the Communist Party of China, he made great contributions to the cause of China’s liberation revolution.

In 1915, Chen Yannian was admitted to Shanghai French School to major in French, and in 1917 he was admitted to Aurora University to study law. In late December 1919, he went to France for a work-study program. In 1921, he abandoned his original belief in anarchism and turned to believe in Marxism. In June 1922, together with Zhao Shiyan and Zhou Enlai, he founded a communist organization in Europe – the Chinese Youth Communist Party, and served as the Minister of Propaganda. In the autumn of the same year, he joined the French Communist Party. Soon, he was officially recognized as a member of the Communist Party of China by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China. In October 1924, Secretary and Organization Minister of the Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China. Soon, he succeeded Zhou Enlai as Secretary of the Guangdong District Committee of the Communist Party of China. In 1927, he served as secretary of the Jiangsu and Zhejiang District Committee of the Communist Party of China. On April 27, the Fifth National Congress of the Communist Party of China was held, and Chen Yannian was elected as a member of the Central Committee and an alternate member of the Political Bureau. Soon, he served as Secretary of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China. He was arrested and imprisoned in Shanghai on June 26, 1927, and died heroically on July 4. One said that Chen Yannian died at the end of June 1927.
