With the in-depth exploration of oncology and the continuous emergence of new concepts, new technologies and new methods for diagnosis and treatment, The revolutionary progress in tumor diagnosis and treatment has brought tumor diagnosis and treatment into the era of precise and individualized comprehensive whole-course management. Patient-centered, multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration based on evidence-based medical evidence and diagnosis and treatment standards can provide high-quality diagnosis and treatment decisions, enable more tumor patients to receive full-process MDT management, and make more reasonable decisions at all stages of the disease , higher-quality treatment plans, in order to obtain better survival outcomes and quality of life, while providing support and guarantee for relevant clinical and basic research on malignant tumors. Professor Wu Yilong is the chief expert of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital and the honorary director of Guangdong Lung Cancer Research Institute. Under the guidance of Guangdong Provincial People’s Hospital, since its establishment in 2003, under the leadership of Professor Wu Yilong, Guangdong Lung Cancer Research Institute has established clinical departments including internal medicine, external surgery, radiotherapy, day treatment wards, basic research, and translational medicine research. The comprehensive development system realizes the comprehensive treatment of a single disease of lung cancer through the complete integration of multiple disciplines. Since 2003, regular multidisciplinary discussions on lung cancer cases have been held every Wednesday afternoon, forming a normalized MDT with multi-dimensional data and evidence. In 2019, it established the first multidisciplinary joint planning and diagnosis and treatment center for stage III lung cancer in China, and led the establishment of the Lung Cancer MDT Alliance to continuously deepen the integrated standard treatment model from diagnosis, treatment to rehabilitation. In 2020, the Chinese expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of lung cancer by a multidisciplinary team will be released, which will become the first consensus on the standardization of multidisciplinary development of lung cancer in China. As a pioneer and advocate of the multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment model for lung cancer, Guangdong Lung Cancer Research Institute has played an exemplary and leading role. From 2018 onwards, the discussion of multidisciplinary cases of lung cancer every Wednesday will be in the form of the “Longge Rounds” column. The Internet video, text, audio and video are broadcast live, and 143 episodes have been launched so far, which have gained high attention and recognition in the industry across the country. In 2021, in response to the call of National Health 2030, together with the Lung Tumor Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association and the China Thoracic Tumor Collaborative Group, we will jointly launch the “Guangdong General Consultation” to help the grassroots under the background of the normalization of the epidemic, so as to improve the standardized diagnosis and treatment capabilities of grassroots doctors across the country. At the beginning of 2022, the institute summed up its experience, collected the essence of expert rounds, case discussions, and evidence-based diagnosis and treatment of classic cases over the years, and published the book “Longge Rounds – The Application of Evidence-Based Thinking in Typical Lung Cancer Cases of Professor Wu Yilong”.

This book shows the essence of multidisciplinary discussions on lung cancer in the past 20 years of Guangdong Lung Cancer Research Institute, and restores the wonderful discussion process with pictures and texts. A total of 30 typical cases are selected in the book, covering the early, middle and late stages of lung cancer. The content involves the treatment of postoperative multiple lesions in elderly patients, as well as the treatment of comorbidities such as nasopharyngeal cancer, the boundary between standard treatment and trying new drugs, and the process of treatment. The activation of hepatitis B virus, the problem of super-progression after surgery, the diagnosis and treatment of compound lung cancer, the problem of drug resistance after multi-line targeted therapy and other thorny clinical problems of lung cancer can provide reference and inspiration for clinicians to search for each patient’s The best way of treatment for the individual, for the benefit of the majority of patients.
