Chronic gastritis has different symptoms, mainly divided into the following situations:

1 . Liver-Stomach Disharmony Syndrome

Symptoms: Stomach distending pain or pain in both sides, each time the condition aggravates due to emotional discomfort, belching or arrow, slightly slow after the breath, frequent belching, bitter mouth, sticky and unpleasant mouth, noisy pantothenic acid; pale red tongue, thin white fur, stringy pulse.

Treatment: soothe the liver and regulate qi, and relieve stomach pain.

Recipe: Chaihu Shugan San plus or minus. For those with severe qi stagnation and pain, add Yanhusuo and Chuandongzi to regulate qi and relieve pain; for those with qi stagnation and heat, add Yujin, Chuandongzi and Huanglian to relieve heat in the liver and stomach.

2. Syndrome of weak spleen and stomach:

Symptoms: Dull pain in the epigastric cavity, liking warmth and pressing, fullness and stuffiness after eating, anorexia, constipation, mental fatigue; pale red tongue, thin white fur, deep and thin pulse.

Treatment method: invigorating the spleen and removing dampness, warming and neutralizing the stomach.

Prescription: Sijunzi Decoction. For those with severe qi deficiency, add Astragalus; for those with extreme cold, Lizhong Pills can be used together, or Astragalus Jianzhong Decoction can be used instead.

3. Symptoms of spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome: epigastric burning, distending pain, noise, abdominal swelling, dry mouth and bitter taste, thirst and reluctance to drink , weight. Tired limbs, yellow urine; red tongue, yellow and greasy coating, slippery pulse.

Treatment method: clear dampness and heat, awaken the spleen and remove turbidity.

Prescription: Sanren Decoction. For severe dampness, add Fuxiang and Peilan to fragrant the turbidity; for extreme heat, add Chuanhuanglian and Zhizizi to clear heat; if cold and heat are intertwined, dry and stinky, and the heart is hard, use Banxia Xiexin Decoction instead.

4. Stomach-yin deficiency syndrome

Symptoms: Pain in the epigastric cavity, noisy, dry mouth and throat, five upset hearts, dry stools; red tongue with little fluid, thin pulse.

Treatment method: nourishing yin and stomach, and relieving pain.

Prescription: Yiwei Decoction. For severe stomach heat, add gypsum and Anemarrhena to clear stomach fire; for severe yin deficiency, add rehmannia glutinosa, white peony root and dendrobium to nourish stomach yin.

5. Blood stasis blocking collaterals

Symptoms : Pain in the epigastric cavity such as acupuncture, pain in a fixed location, refusal to press, especially at night, or blood in the stool; dark red or purple tongue, and astringent pulse.

Treatment: Removing blood stasis and dredging collaterals, and stomach pain relief.

Recipe: Shixiao San and Danshen Drink. For those with qi stagnation and severe pain, add Yanhusuo, turmeric, and muxiang; for those with blood in the stool, add Baiji and Panax notoginseng to promote blood circulation to stop bleeding.
