Go to Jiangyong Tianxian Grassland and have a Midsummer Night’s Dream

Yongzhou News Network News (Correspondent Wen/Hu Panpan Picture/Li Xiang Rong Jianping)To see the landscape of Guilin, you don’t have to go to Guilin. The Jiangyongyuankou Nature Reserve at the junction of Hunan and Guilin has the same landscape as Guilin.

Yuankou, as the name suggests, has a lot of water. There are many large and small streams such as Gumuyuan, Shidaoyuan, Baishayuan, Fengyuan, Hengkai River, etc., which are crisscrossed, and all waters are unified, which is called “source mouth”. The Yuankou Reservoir in the reserve has a water area of 15.36 square kilometers. The lingering streams, the four seasons ding-dong in the valleys, wrap around the mountains like green ribbons.

The reserve is located in the southwestern border of Hunan and belongs to the hilly area of Nanling Mountains. It is not surprising that there are lofty mountains, towering peaks and strange rocks. But the Yanzi Mountain in the west of the reserve will definitely surprise you.

Yanzi Mountain is over a thousand meters above sea level. On the top of the mountain today, there are more than 10 grasslands of more than 1,000 mu, which stretch for 10 kilometers. The grass here does not wilt through winter, the flowers bloom very often in spring, and the clouds and mists are like a fairyland all the year round, which is called “the fairy grassland”. In the daytime, the grasses stretch along the undulating gentle slopes indefinitely, reaching directly to the sky. At night, there is silence all around, lying on the lawn, stretching out your arms to embrace the stars, and having a midsummer night’s dream.

Good mountains and good water, nurturing diverse creatures. There are many national key protected wild animals and plants here, and rare and exotic animals often appear here. The brown-winged cuckoo and the tourist wood are the flagship species here.

In the early morning or evening, in the mountains and forests with little sunlight, you can often hear a dog barking in the distance. This is actually a brownish sound. The cuckoo is chirping. The brown-winged cuckoo, commonly known as the red-haired chicken, is alert by nature and good at concealment. When encountering danger, it moves quickly. It often spreads its tail and wings, and then twists up and down, looking slightly irritable. However, human hunting and ecological destruction have made the brown-winged cuckoo in an endangered state, and it has now become a national second-class protected animal.

And the name of the sightseeing tree is “tourism”, not because the tree is perennial Green, tall and beautiful, it is suitable for sightseeing. In fact, it commemorates Zhong Guangguang, the discoverer of this species and the earliest scholar who collected plant specimens in modern China. Sightseeing wood existed in the age of dinosaurs and is called “prehistoric relics”. The discovery of its live plants is of great significance to paleontological research. However, the natural reproductive capacity of the sightseeing tree is low, and it is often faced with difficulties such as ecological damage, so it is listed as a national key protected plant.

In the Yuankou Reserve, the tourist tree is not a “rare visitor”. Every spring, the small yellow-toothed flowers and bones begin to emerge, and it doesn’t take long for them to occupy the dense canopy of the sightseeing tree in large areas, with the momentum of “thousands of flowers pressing down on the branches”. Sightseeing wood has a strong fragrance of flowers, passing through the forest, and the fragrance cannot be dissipated on the clothes for a long time.
