On May 22, at the 7th Academic Conference on the Prevention and Control of Respiratory Diseases of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association, Zhang Wenhong gave a presentation entitled “my country’s Prevention and Control Strategy under the Background of the Global Epidemic of New Coronary Pneumonia”. Implementation” presentation.

Zhang Wenhong proposed:
1. Comparing the new crown epidemic with H1N1 in 2009 and SARS in 2003, it is found that the transmission rate of the new crown epidemic is much higher than that of the previous two epidemics.
China has achieved better prevention and control effects through the experience summed up in the early prevention and control stage.
2. We all felt an unprecedented challenge in the face of Omicron. Omicron has an R0 of 9.5, which spreads faster than chickenpox among existing infectious diseases and has been difficult to control through non-pharmacological interventions (NPI).
The biggest challenge is the vulnerable. The current deaths are basically related to the inflammatory response induced by special populations and the aggravation of the primary disease itself.
3. Regarding the inflammatory response to the host caused by Omicron, the study found that it is indeed milder than influenza, but it is still more serious in vulnerable populations.
This means, Omicron will induce some degree of inflammation, but less so than the flu. If the patient is older and the underlying disease is severe, this inflammatory response may be fatal.
4. With regard to the future global prevention and control model, China’s experience is: Intensify nucleic acid testing; Vaccines are widely covered; Broad-spectrum vaccine research and development; Non-drug intervention; drug therapy; prone position ventilation, etc.
5. Maybe the new crown epidemic will not end in the short term, We need more time, more patience, more courage, more Wisdom and technology to overcome all this.
