Why are diabetic foot pain unbearable at night?

The reasons why diabetic foot patients feel uncomfortable at night mainly include two aspects. Today, Dr. Zhao of Orthopedics will explain it to you in detail.

Why do diabetic foot pain suffer at night?

On the one hand, poor long-term blood sugar control can lead to peripheral neuropathy. During the day, the attention is distracted, and the pain may not be very obvious. In the dead of night, the pain, numbness, and discomfort of peripheral neuropathy will be reflected, because the attention is concentrated here.

On the other hand, long-term blood sugar, blood lipids, and blood pressure are not well controlled, and the blood in the peripheral blood vessels is in a state of viscous and stasis. The vascular lumen itself is relatively small and narrow, which is the so-called “vascular disease”, which leads to ischemia at the distal end of the body, which will cause discomfort and pain in the lower extremities.

So, how can diabetic foot pain be relieved? The main methods for relieving pain are as follows:

1. Clean the wound surface and control infection;

2. Timely remove rot and regenerate muscles, nourish nerves, and use medicine to promote the growth of granulation tissue and accelerate wound healing; ;

4. Blood sugar also needs to be obviously controlled and stabilized.

It is recommended that patients be transferred to a diabetes specialist as much as possible. For example, in clinical practice, the common endocrinology department has a special dressing room for diabetic feet, and different treatment methods will be carried out according to the patient’s wound condition.
