Today, tens of millions of people around the world still live in extremely difficult circumstances and suffer emotionally. In daily life, adults also often encounter various emotional problems.
The word “adversity” is often used to describe the difficult situation described above.
People in adversity are more likely to develop mental health and social problems, but this population has little access to appropriate counseling. As a result, the World Health Organization (WHO) has written a “Problem Manager (PM+)” guidebook to provide psychological counseling for people in adversity.
“Problem Management Plus (PM+)” is a short-term, effective, manual and practical psychological intervention method developed by the World Health Organization, and its effect has been tested in randomized controlled trials. Get verified. It will teach people to use relevant strategies to deal with emotional problems and practical problems in life without taking drugs.
Problem managers have advantages over other interventions: they are shorter than exposure therapy, cognitive therapy, or other treatments for PTSD; patients are less likely to experience exacerbations; Focus on multiple issues: such as anxiety, depression, PTSD, etc.; and enable individuals with non-psychological professional qualifications to provide services under the guidance of professional supervision.
In May 2018, “Problem Manager” was introduced into China by the Psychological Crisis Intervention Working Committee of the Chinese Psychological Association, and was applied and promoted. Since 2020, a series of “self-help training camps” developed on the basis of its framework has played its unique role. Its special instruction manual – “Problem Manager (PM+)” Chinese version was officially published, helping more front-line workers and the general public to face psychological problems under adversity.
