WHO: 37 cases of monkeypox confirmed worldwide, 71 more suspected cases

World Health Organization spokesman Yasarevic said in an interview with RIA Novosti on the 20th that there are 37 confirmed cases of monkeypox in the world and 71 suspected cases.

WHO held an emergency expert meeting on the 20th to discuss the monkeypox outbreak. Yasarevic said the WHO urged countries to follow the case definition to find new cases, and more monkeypox cases were expected. “Generally, monkeypox symptoms resolve within a few weeks, but in some cases, monkeypox virus can cause complications and even death.”

Symptoms in people infected with monkeypox virus are similar to Smallpox patients. Initial symptoms include fever, headache, muscle aches, swollen lymph nodes, chills, and exhaustion.
