It is reported that Wei Yongxiang was transferred from the position of Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of Beijing Anzhen Hospital to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics (hereinafter referred to as the Capital Institute of Pediatrics) on September 17, 2020, as the capital Deputy Secretary and Director of the Party Committee of the Children’s Research Institute (deputy bureau level, one-year probationary period).

The Capital Institute of Pediatrics is the first pediatric medical research institute in New China. It was established in 1958 and was formerly known as the Pediatric Institute of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. In 1983, it officially changed its name to the Capital Institute of Pediatrics after belonging to the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau. In 1986, its affiliated children’s hospital was formally established, and the affiliated children’s hospital was a tertiary first-class hospital. During his tenure as the director of the Capital Institute of Pediatrics, Wei Yongxiang led the application of the “5G+ Smart Medical Children’s Health Management Demonstration Model and Standard Construction” project, and was selected as the 5G+ medical and health application pilot project. In April 2021, the Capital Institute of Pediatrics obtained the qualification of an Internet hospital and became the first Internet children’s hospital in Beijing.

In addition to Capital Institute of Pediatrics and Anzhen Hospital, Wei Yongxiang’s resume also involves two other hospitals in Beijing – he has served as assistant to the president, science and technology in Beijing Tongren Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University Director of Education Department, Deputy Director of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and Vice President of Beijing Chaoyang Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University.

Because of his achievements in management, he was awarded the eleventh batch of “Beijing’s Outstanding Contributions in Science, Technology and Management”, and was awarded the “National Hospital Association of China 2016″ 100 Excellent Hospital Deans” and “2018 President Outstanding Contribution Award of Chinese Hospital Association”.

Also in 2018, he was elected as the 3rd President of the Otolaryngology Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
