“When it got dark, moving a few bamboo beds and watching open-air TV or movies with our neighbors are the deepest memories of our generation spending summer in Wuhan.” Ms. Zhou from Huiji Road, Jiang’an District, with her 10-year-old daughter, came to the lawn early to occupy the front-row viewing position, just to let the daughter of “post-10s” experience the way she spent in summer when she was a child. There is still some time before the movie is played. Many family-based citizens and tourists sit around on the lawn. Some of them take pictures and punch cards, some chat and laugh, and some bring their own benches and shake their fans to cool off.

At 19:40, the movie “Miracle Stupid Child” was shown in the dark, the high temperature and hustle and bustle of the day were gone, and the park at night was more quiet. As the plot of the film develops, the audience is also attracted by the experiences of the characters in the play, laughing and applauding along with them. Master Liu, the “hard fan” of Jiefang Park, comes to the park to exercise almost every morning and evening. Today, he was complained by his teammates that he was “a bit unpunctual”. It turned out that he wanted to set aside time to watch a movie in Gongsunping and was absent from the exercise. “In recent years, the most lively place every Friday in Jiefang Park is Gongsunping. I came here not only to watch movies, but also to relive the summer memories of old Wuhan.” He said with a smile. Many of the “post-10s” children in the audience watched the open-air movie for the first time, and expressed their novelty. “The open-air movie screen is loud and loud, and I feel that this form is both fun and warm.” Li Yuheng, 11 years old this year, praised.

12-year-old Chen Ziyu was influenced by her grandmother and followed her to watch an open-air movie in Jiefang Park. After watching “Miracle Stupid Child”, she was not only moved by the film’s protagonist Jing Hao’s experience of pursuing her dream, but also “Amway” to her grandmother to start the movie “On the Cliff” to be shown next Friday. See you again in five. “I haven’t watched a movie for a long time. I used to watch it in a movie theater. This time I came to watch a night movie outdoors. It was very interesting. I want to give this place ‘Amway’ to my classmates!” Chen Ziyu said.

He also likes open-air movies in the park very much, and Deng Hui, an old resident of the park community, sighs that after staying in the air-conditioned room for a long time, it is more comfortable to go out for a walk and watch movies! “Although Wuhan was a bit hot in July, the open-air movies that come every year are still attractive. There are many young people on the scene today. I think everyone is willing to go out and experience the summer fireworks.” He said.

Come to the park to watch open-air movies is not only a limited “program” for Wuhan citizens every summer, but also a tradition of benefiting the people that has lasted for more than 10 years in the Liberation Park. Since the first nighttime open-air movie screening in the summer of 2009 was well received by the citizens, the park has launched a two-month movie season every year. “As early as June, citizens and tourists came to inquire about the film schedule of this summer film season, so we made posters and posted them all over the park within a week, so that everyone can understand the situation.” Ye Xiangdong, a staff member of the park, introduced.
