The story of the exclusive bus stop of Loudi “bench mother” continued: children’s vision improved from 0.3 to 0.8

“Batt, blah, blah…” The sound of wood hitting the ground hit everyone’s eardrums, whenever this sound appeared in Loudi Aier Eye Clinic The hospital, as everyone knows, is the “bench mother” Chen Xinping with his son Xiaoyu. In order to facilitate the “special” mother and son to go back and forth to see a doctor, the Loudi City Bus Company recently added the first temporary bus stop for the disabled, shortening the mother and son’s 30-minute medical treatment journey to just 2 minutes . This moved Chen Xinping deeply, and it also attracted the attention of the whole network.

What made her happiest was that during the follow-up consultation on March 4, the specialist from Aier ophthalmology told her that her son’s glaucoma was well controlled. After two years of amblyopia training, the visual acuity has been improved from 0.3 to 0.8, and the hat of “amblyopia” has been thrown off.

In 2014, Xiaoyu was born into a disabled family. His father had glaucoma, and he suffered from schizophrenia due to an accident when he was young. The mother, Chen Xinping, is paralyzed on both feet, and relies on a small wooden bench to support her daily activities. When Xiaoyu was 8 months old, Chen Xinping found that the child’s eyes were abnormal, the eyeballs were larger than ordinary children, and he was photophobic. So, she took her child to Changsha for diagnosis and treatment, and was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma.

“Congenital glaucoma is more common in males, and the incidence rate is as high as 80% within 1 year of age. Moreover, this child’s father has glaucoma, and he has a family history, which further increases the risk of glaucoma.” Hunan Provincial Medical Association Professor Duan Xuanchu Duan, chairman of the Ophthalmology Branch and doctoral supervisor of Aier College of Ophthalmology, Central South University, explained that the development of glaucoma has a process. As the child grows, the intraocular pressure will continue to rise. If left unchecked, the optic nipple will eventually expand. and irreversible, leading to permanent blindness.

After surgery, Xiaoyu’s symptoms were relieved. However, the good times did not last long. After entering kindergarten, Xiaoyu always had to stick it on a book when studying and writing to see clearly. In 2020, after taking Xiaoyu to Loudi Aier Eye Hospital for examination, his parents were diagnosed with binocular glaucoma, binocular refractive error, binocular amblyopia, and binocular corrected visual acuity (vision with glasses) was only 0.3.

Aiming at Xiaoyu’s refractive error and amblyopia, Tan Jian, vice president of Loudi Aier Eye Hospital, developed a treatment plan for him – amblyopia rehabilitation training.

“In order for my child to receive good treatment, no matter the weather, the sun or the rain, I insist on taking my child to the hospital for training every day without interruption.” Chen Xinping said, over the past two years, the young Yu has received more than 200 amblyopia rehabilitation training, and now the child’s binocular corrected vision has also improved from 0.3 to 0.8. At the same time, after two years of regular inspections, his intraocular pressure is also well controlled, currently around 18-19 mmHg (normal intraocular pressure is 10-21 mmHg), and his glaucoma condition is stable. The child’s vision recovery has become more and more ideal, which has become the happiest thing for Chen Xinping. She said that she believes that the future will be better and better.

It is reported that regarding Xiaoyu’s follow-up eye disease treatment, Loudi Disabled Persons’ Federation, Loudi Charity Association and Loudi Aier Eye Hospital will jointly provide public welfare assistance, and Loudi Aier Eye Hospital will continue to provide professional services for him. eye care services.
