“Prosperity and desolation, liveliness and loneliness, have always been twin sisters.”
A small county town located in the northwest of Sichuan, was unknown 300 years ago, and people called it Fuzhou; And its name is now famous all over the world – Jiuzhaigou County.
Recently, writer Li Chunrong’s essay collection “Fuzhou Ji” was published by Chengdu Times Publishing House.
New book cover
Jiuzhaigou County has both the water spirit of the south and the thickness of the north. It is also famous for its beautiful scenery, Shuzheng Valley, Pearl Beach, Shenxian Pond, Rize Valley… Every holiday is crowded here. But amid the noise, Li Chunrong, as a native of Jiuzhaigou, began to feel uneasy.
As a child, Li Chunrong often went to the ancient city wall of Fuzhou to play with her friends. The steep mountains and rocks, etc., all left a deep imprint on her heart; now, Li Chunrong is worried about this piece of “Fuzhou” that is gradually being forgotten by people.
So, Li Chunrong decided to use this book “Fuzhou Ji” to lead readers to find clues of the ancient “Fuzhou” in the fog of history. She said that she would put a tag around her neck for Fuzhou, which is behind Jiuzhaigou County, and write her name, blood type, address, and contact number to indicate its identity, so that people who see Fuzhou in the future can get close.
Jiuzhaigou Scenic Area
“In 1722, Emperor Pana on the opposite mountain from Fuzhou rebelled and captured Fuzhou City. After the annual expedition, Fuzhou was finally bombarded with cannons, and in the fire, Fuzhou and the traitors perished together, and now only the ruins of the old city can be seen.” Li Chunrong introduced the remaining low city walls of Fuzhou’s historical sites. The damp places at the foot of the city walls were dark red like rust, and the dry loess was white with salt.
Walking around the old city wall, looking back, behind you is a straight earth cliff like a knife, overlooking the pedestrians. Its section is so flat, as if a bolt of lightning had just split the mountain, leaving only horizontal marks on the section of the soil cliff.
Li Chunrong on the Tuya
“It is said that Tuya is the location of the government’s silver vault. When Fuzhou City was broken, the ashes covered it After receiving it, the silver taels are still in the silver vault, intact and undiscovered. To this day, the legendary silver vault has become a mystery through the ages.” Li Chunrong told an ancient legend that only local people know. This story has How real? Later people can no longer verify.
Fuzhou, or Jiuzhaigou, is a multi-ethnic settlement. “There was a saying in the past, ‘Nanping is not like Sichuan, and Bikou is not like Gan’.” Li Chunrong summed up the folk customs here with a common saying, “Because Jiuzhaigou is adjacent to Gansu, most of the ancestors of the local people are from Gansu and Shanxi, and some people because of the rush The smoke field is from Sichuan. The people who live here, in accordance with the cultural traditions of their respective nationalities, blend together.”
“The city walls, old houses, and old people are disappearing. Personally, my emotions are difficult Letting go, I have been thinking about how to record and preserve it.” With her back against the ancient city wall of Fuzhou, Li Chunrong seemed to be stroking the ancient stories that happened on this land, trying to make them visible to the world again, “I I want readers to understand a Jiuzhaigou with rich cultural heritage, simple folk customs, and reading in sunny days.”
