The local painter Hengshan Mountain in Nanyue is the first to be recommended. He especially mentioned that he would go to Fuyan Temple, an ancient temple of the Six Dynasties, to listen to the whispers of four thousand-year-old ginkgo trees.

Fuyan Temple has four ancient ginkgo trees over a thousand years old, one of which is more than 30 meters high and more than 1,400 years old , is the oldest ginkgo tree in Hengyang. In spring, the old trees sprout, summer provides cool shade, and autumn is naturally the best viewing season. The golden ginkgo leaves flutter in the morning light and twilight, falling on the bricks and tiles of the ancient temples of the Six Dynasties, and the stone steps where you come and go. superior.

“I like to observe the relationship between these four thousand-year-old ginkgo trees and the ancient temple, and the relationship with tourists. I can feel the eternity in the language of art—movement and stillness, yin and yang, change, and contrast.” Walking under the ginkgo tree , Liao Libang is always imaginative.

The second recommended place by Liao Libang is the Shigu Academy, one of the four ancient academies in China.

The location of Shigu Academy is a scene in itself. It is located on Shigu Mountain where the three waters of Zhengbei, Xiang and Lei converge in Hengyang City. Xu Xiake once compared Shigu Academy with Tengwang Pavilion and Yellow Crane Tower. Shigu Academy was built in the fifth year of Tang Yuanhe (810) and has been rebuilt many times in history. During the defense of Hengyang, Shigu Academy was destroyed by artillery fire, and only part of the stone carvings remained. The newly built Shigu Academy, with white walls and black tiles, is still solemn and simple.

“Every time I go to Shigu Academy, I feel different. Sometimes it is very quiet, close to the heart, making people calm down and think about life. Disturbing, let people come to the moment.” Liao Libang said.

So in his studio, there are two different styles of Shigu Academy.

The large-scale painting “Just the Sound of the Stone Drum Book” leaning against the studio wall, about 2 meters in length and width, is modern. The green pines and cypresses and the Shigu Academy are black and white ink painting, classical and leisurely; the tourists walking up the stairs are dressed in colorful clothes. The blank spaces in the picture are filled with rich green, and modern high-rise buildings are in the distance.

The other painting “Shigu Jiangshan” is painted on rice paper. The mountains are lush and green, and the river surface is rippling. It is very hopeful that Jiang Huaigu’s interest.
