The oldest person in China is severely cured of the new crown, and the 108-year-old man in Shanghai is discharged from the hospital

Yesterday at 11:00 noon, Ye Ming, a 108-year-old critically ill patient with COVID-19, was discharged from Shanghai Pudong Hospital. The oldest patient who was discharged from hospital with severe new coronary pneumonia.

Ye Ming was born on December 29, 1914 and joined the Communist Party of China in the 1930s. During the Anti-Japanese War, he used his identity as an anesthesiologist in the operating room of the Shanghai Municipal Third Hospital to raise medical equipment and medicines for the anti-Japanese guerrillas. When resisting U.S. aggression and aiding Korea, Ye Ming even joined the medical team and went to the front line. This time he was cured and discharged from the hospital, and the medical staff excitedly said in the old gentleman’s ear: “You have won another battle!”

On April 12, Ye Ming was diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia, and was transferred to the designated hospital of Pudong Hospital by 120 for treatment. Deputy Chief Physician Jiang Qingyuan was one of the first experts to sign up for the new crown ward. During the ward round, he found that Mr. Ye not only had symptoms such as fever, cough, sputum, shortness of breath, but also had cerebral infarction and coronary heart disease in the past. The medical history, coupled with long-term bed rest, the situation is not very good, has been confused. Jiang Qingyuan immediately reported the situation to the hospital headquarters, and Pudong Hospital immediately set up an “old baby” guardian team to treat Mr. Ye Lao with all his might.

According to the complex physical condition of centenarians, the hospital recruits experts from cardiology department, geriatric medicine department, respiratory department, traditional Chinese medicine department and other disciplines as well as senior nurses to form a medical care team. On the basis of adhering to the “one person, one plan”, the team paid special attention to Mr. Ye Lao, conducted ward rounds several times a day, observed changes in his condition, and adjusted treatment measures in a timely manner.

On the evening of April 27, the old man’s condition suddenly changed, with shortness of breath, poor consciousness, and the lowest finger pulse oxygen dropped to 79%. Ao Rongguang, the doctor on duty, immediately organized the rescue, and quickly started the expert consultation mode according to the routine diagnosis and treatment of critically ill patients. Combining the CT chest image results and the underlying disease, the expert team judged that the patient had progressed to severe new coronary pneumonia, and the elderly was transferred to the ICU for intensive management and treatment.

“Blood oxygen should be above 95% under normal conditions. The condition of the elderly is suitable for endotracheal intubation to improve the symptoms of respiratory failure.” Wang Shuyun, director of the ICU, recalled that considering that the patient was 108 years old, the invasive operation was performed The recovery time was long, and the family members were not in favor of intubation. Later, after discussion by Zhong Ming, an expert in critical care medicine at Zhongshan Hospital, and relevant national experts, they unanimously decided not to intubate and give nasal high-flow humidified oxygen therapy.

According to the treatment requirements, the medical team started prone position ventilation and drainage as soon as possible, and took symptomatic treatment such as high-flow oxygen inhalation, high lateral position ventilation, anti-infection, anti-virus, and nutritional support. Routine prone ventilation requires at least 12 hours at a time. Considering the patient’s advanced age, medical staff pay close attention to his vital signs and adjust the sleeping position at any time according to changes in the condition. Mr. Ye is nearly 1.8 meters tall. To adjust his posture, he needs 4 people to act together. The nursing team also pats the back of the elderly from time to time and provides airway care to prevent pressure ulcers.

“Aerosols are generated when sputum is sucked. Our nurses are not afraid of the risks they take. They always shake the hand of the elderly and encourage them with a smile.” Qu Haihong, deputy director of the Nursing Department, said Mr. Ye Lao It is difficult to have a conversation with the ears behind, so everyone uses body language and warm eyes to reassure the elderly.

Under the professional and meticulous care of the rescue team, Mr. Ye’s various laboratory indicators and vital signs are improving day by day.

The old hero was “in the same frame” 70 years ago, and now he wins the battle against the epidemic again

On May 13th, the ICU carried out an operation for Mr. Ye Lao Nucleic acid sampling, when Wang Shuyun found the “negative” test result on the computer, he immediately told his colleagues the good news. The doctors and nurses excitedly rushed to the bedside of the old man to congratulate him on another victory. The old man was happy laughed.

Yesterday, Mr. Ye met the national discharge standard of having a sampling time of more than 24 hours and two consecutive negative test results, and was successfully discharged from the hospital.

It is worth mentioning that with the release of Ye Ming’s photos, many netizens exclaimed : “This probability is too small.” It turned out that in an old photo of the three people who fought against the United States and aided Korea, Ye Ming was one of them, and the other old man was another elderly patient with the new crown in this round of epidemic, 93 years old. Wang Man is like a grandmother. Wang Manru used to be a nurse in the front line of medical treatment to resist U.S. aggression and aid Korea, and won third-class merit in the battlefield. After returning safely from the battlefield, she devoted herself to the career of pediatric nursing for decades until her retirement. On April 23, Wang Manru came to Lingang Fangcai Hospital with other elderly infected persons in the nursing home. The good news is that in early May, she was successfully cured and “exited”.

It is reported that both elderly people were medical staff of the Oriental Hospital. In 1950, when the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea broke out, Dongfang Hospital (then known as the Municipal Third People’s Hospital) successively sent two batches of medical teams to the Korean battlefield. Ye Ming, Mo Yunzhu, Wang Manru, Wang Huimin, Ren Meifen…these names were recorded in the In the hospital history of Oriental Hospital. Now, Ye Ming and Wang Manru, two elderly people who were “in the same frame” 70 years ago, have both won the battle against the epidemic under the full-scale treatment of post-medical studies.
