Most of the day, we should be like this:
We might be like this when we get off work:
People who sit and stand for a long time are actually prone to low back pain. About 80% of people will experience low back pain at some point in their lives, and the prevalence is second only to colds.
Occasionally mild low back pain can be recovered quickly with proper relief and relaxation, but if you encounter severe low back pain, it is not as simple as relaxing and resting.
Low back pain is the leading cause of disability globally, with an 18% prevalence of low back pain in people aged 45 and over
Recently, the authoritative medical journal The Lancet published a review of 65 new studies showing:
Low back pain has become the leading cause of lost productivity globally and is currently the number one cause of healthy life lost in 126 countries and the leading cause of disability globally.
In addition, people aged 40-69 have the highest prevalence of low back pain, accounting for 28% to 42%, among which middle-aged and elderly women aged 40-80 have a particularly high prevalence.
Well, why did the lower back start to hurt?
Low back pain is mainly a disease characterized by lumbar spine and muscle degeneration. With age, the incidence of low back pain is higher and the symptoms are worse severe.
In addition, with the increasing life expectancy and increasing awareness of health, the incidence of low back pain will naturally increase.
In addition to aging, what other causes are the “culprits” of low back pain?
Back pain can be associated with many causes. Usually, there are three possible causes of back pain:
First, poor posture
The correct sitting posture should be straight, if sitting there crookedly, it is likely to cause lumbar spine deformation, and even cause lumbar disc herniation .
The herniated lumbar disc will naturally cause back pain, so maintaining a good sitting posture can effectively prevent back pain.
Second, bad work habits
Low back pain is more predisposed to certain working groups.
For example, heavy manual workers, who need to bend and walk under heavy load, are prone to injury to the lower back and cause lower back pain.
For another example, people who often need to sit for work may also cause low back pain if they sit still for a long time. Therefore, it is best to stand up and move around frequently to move muscles and bones.
Third, stay in the same position for a long time
If you stay in the same position for a long time without moving, it is very likely that the muscles will be fixed, which will cause muscle spasms and eventually lead to lumbar muscle strain.
In addition to lifestyle habits, low back pain may also be a sign of disease
When you have low back pain for a long time, and no matter how much you rest or relax, the symptoms are not relieved, then it is very likely that the disease is warning you, so be careful:
1. Waist Rash
When the skin of the waist becomes infected, it may cause a rash. The most common symptom is redness, swelling, heat and pain, so the low back pain may be caused by the rash on the waist .
You may want to observe whether there is a rash or redness on the skin of the waist, and if so, you need to think about what pathogens you have recently come into contact with.
2. Lumbar muscle strain
Psoas muscle strain is a common muscle injury that often occurs in workers with heavy physical labor. Under normal circumstances, if you want to deal with lumbar muscle strain, you need to rest adequately and relax your waist through massage.
3. Lumbar disc herniation
Back pain, while not as terrifying as cancer, can be debilitating. Usually, patients need to fight against the dull pain caused by low back pain for a long time.
In many cases, when the lumbar intervertebral disc is herniated, the nerve will be compressed and cause low back pain, which is difficult to cure.
4. Kidney cancer
Tumor occurs in the kidney, and as the tumor grows, it will involve renal capsule compressing peripheral nerves and intramuscular tissue, resulting in low back pain, usually Dull pain in the lower back or upper abdomen.
Some patients also experience severe colic due to blockage of the blood clot passing through the ureter, which can easily be mistaken for a kidney or ureteral stone and delay treatment.
Workers, walk and move if necessary
Most low back pain patients are actually caused by poor posture at work or prolonged sitting and standing for long periods of time.
Therefore, for the muscles of workers, we also need to work in shifts, stand for a while, sit for a while, walk for a while, and do not maintain one position for a long time.
If the low back pain cannot be relieved, don’t press it arbitrarily, or put down the work at hand in time and go to the doctor immediately.
After all, life can only be saved if the waist is saved!
