The first “anti-epidemic baby” was born safely, and 17 new crown pregnant women have been treated in the southern branch of Renji Hospital

“It’s a baby girl, mother and daughter are safe!”

Today (April 15th) at 12:28 , In the operating room of the southern branch of Renji Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine (the designated hospital for the new crown), a crisp baby cry broke the silence of the operating room. This designated hospital welcomed the first “anti-epidemic baby”.

Last night, Ms. Li, who was nearly 39 weeks pregnant, went to the emergency department of Renji East Hospital. Ms. Li’s nucleic acid test result was positive, and she was subsequently diagnosed with new coronary pneumonia. The hospital quickly launched an emergency plan and transferred Ms. Li to the southern campus of Renji Hospital for treatment.

This morning, Ms. Li’s body temperature rose to 38.6°C, and the fetal heart rate remained at 170 beats/min.

“The puerpera is a patient with new coronavirus infection, and is accompanied by prenatal fever and fetal distress. After consultation with the obstetrics and anesthesiology department, it is recommended to perform cesarean section operation for Ms. Li immediately.” Ren Jinan Wu Zhenming, chief physician of the obstetrics and gynecology department of the hospital and head of the obstetrics ward, told reporters.

At 11:00 noon, Ms. Li was pushed into the operating room. At 12:28, with clear cries, surgeons Wu Zhenming and Xu Jiwen showed happy smiles.

“It’s a baby girl!” Midwife Shi Linlin told Ms. Li.

Chen Xuelian, a neonatal doctor at Renjinan Hospital, wrapped the baby in a small quilt and put it on the newborn scale, 3155 grams! After the on-site inspection by the pediatrician, the baby was a healthy baby with a birth score of full marks. The nurse immediately vaccinated the baby with BCG and hepatitis B vaccine.

“Thank you to the doctors and nurses for protecting me and my family at this special time, when I was most worried and helpless. The mother and daughter are safe.” Ms. Li, who gave birth smoothly, had a happy smile on her face. She said that she hoped that the epidemic will dissipate as soon as possible and the family can be reunited as soon as possible.

Wu Zhenming, head of the obstetrics ward, said that as of today, 17 new crown-positive pregnant women have been admitted to the hospital. “Most of the pregnant women admitted are in the second trimester, which is an important period of fetal growth and development during pregnancy. Affected by the epidemic, some pregnant women are worried that they will not be able to take a pregnancy test in time, and some are worried that they will have nowhere to give birth, and their emotions will fluctuate greatly.” These mothers, medical staff in designated hospitals, sent psychological “massage” in time to help pregnant and lying-in women relieve anxiety.
