Changjiang Daily Wuhan Client, March 2 (correspondent Peng Jinyun Xia Guihua) 11-year-old boy Xiaoyu (pseudonym) has low vision, but there is no organic disease in the examination. Judging from experience, Xiaoyu suffered from “children’s hysterical vision loss” caused by psychological reasons, and the root cause was the strong pressure brought by his mother to him. After “talking” to the mother and son and using eye drops to relieve fatigue to treat heart disease, Xiaoyu’s eyesight returned to normal.
Last week, 11-year-old Xiaoyu and her mother, Ms. Wang, went to Hanyang Aier Eye Hospital to check their eyesight. Through comprehensive optometry, Li Min, an optometrist at the hospital, found that Xiaoyu had 300 degrees of myopia in his right eye and 300 degrees of myopia in his left eye. 150 degrees, which matched the degree of glasses he had previously fitted, but his corrected vision was only 0.1, which surprised the doctors.
The doctor conducted a series of special eye examinations for Xiaoyu, but did not find any organic lesions. Shi Minghua, director of the pediatrics and strabismus amblyopia specialist in the hospital, carefully studied Xiaoyu’s various examination results, and patiently used the near vision checklist to let Xiaoyu identify. Xiaoyu can quickly and correctly identify, and his near vision reached 1.5.
With rich experience, Director Shi suspects that Xiaoyu suffers from “child hysterical vision loss”, that is, temporary vision loss caused by abnormal psychological conditions.
In order to confirm his judgment and relieve Xiaoyu’s psychological pressure, Director Shi asked the nurse to take Xiaoyu to play outside the clinic and communicate with Xiaoyu’s mother Ms. Wang alone.
This question brought out Xiaoyu’s “heart knot”. It turned out that Ms. Wang paid special attention to Xiaoyu’s eye health because she was highly short-sighted. “My child’s father and I were originally highly short-sighted, and I would definitely pay more attention to the child’s eye-use habits at ordinary times, which is basically a face-to-face.” Ms. Wang said that whenever Xiaoyu uses mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices after studying, She would scold the child for “playing blind” with his eyes.
During the winter vacation, because Ms. Wang has been working all the time, she has no time to supervise Xiaoyu’s eyesight. Xiaoyu occasionally secretly uses her grandparents’ mobile phones. After Ms. Wang found out, she always scolded Xiaoyu loudly. Therefore, when he brought Xiaoyu to check his eyesight this time, Xiaoyu was very resistant in his heart.
Director Shi Minghua judged that the pressure on the increase in the degree of myopia is the main reason for Xiaoyu’s vision loss due to hysteria in children. In fact, his degree of myopia has not increased, and the glasses currently fitted are in line with him. However, due to psychological reasons, after wearing glasses, his corrected vision could not reach the normal standard, and he could not see clearly.
Heart disease still needs heart medicine. Director Shi carried out “talk therapy” tactics on Xiaoyu. First of all, he told him that the degree of myopia has not increased, and his eyes will not be blind, but he is just a little tired. “Magic Potion” (actually eye drops to relieve visual fatigue), you can see clearly. Knowing that his degree did not increase, Xiaoyu was obviously relieved with the “magic potion” prescribed by the doctor. After a week of continuous drip, on February 27, Xiaoyu came to the hospital for a review, and his vision returned to the normal level of corrected vision.
Director Shi said that abnormal psychological conditions may also lead to temporary vision loss. In recent years, the abnormal vision caused by hysteria is on the rise. Not only children, but adults can also experience this kind of situation, which is mainly related to the accelerated pace of life and the growth of anxiety. Director Shi also reminded the majority of parents and friends that parents, as the backbone of youth myopia prevention and control, should pay attention to the prevention and control of youth myopia, but also pay attention to methods and means. To achieve a balance in the prevention and control of myopia, do not overdo it.
