“Thank you for removing the pain for me”: A Dominica patient’s confession to Chinese medical technology

“Thanks to the arrival of the Chinese doctor, without this operation, I can’t imagine how long I will endure the pain in the future.” Dominica woman Julia said after undergoing tumor removal surgery.

Julia, 40, has been plagued by illness in recent years. She sought medical treatment from various sources and was diagnosed with multiple uterine fibroids, and the treatment plan was hysterectomy. Julia, who does not want to give up being a mother, has always refused surgery.

In February of this year, Julia was in unbearable pain again. When she heard that an oncology medical team from China had arrived in Dominica, she decided to try it.

At the China-Dominican Friendship Hospital, Professor Zhang Lian and Dr. Wang Jian from the medical team conducted MRI examinations and readings for Julia, and after inquiring about the relevant medical history in detail, they believed that Julia had multiple uterine fibroids. Combined with adenomyosis, the largest uterine fibroids are close to 5 cm in diameter, and adenomyosis is the main cause of pain. The Chinese medical team informed the China-Dominican Friendship Hospital that Julia could be treated with “Hai Fu Dao”.

Recalling the surgery on March 7, Julia used “magical” to describe the whole process. Wang Jian explained that on the day of the operation, the hospital apologetically informed that the two anesthesiologists had another emergency operation and suggested that Julia’s operation be cancelled. Based on years of clinical experience, Zhang Lian believes that the non-invasive treatment provided by the equipment he uses is less painful, and some patients can complete the treatment without anesthesia.

“The operation went well, and there was no pain without anesthesia.” Julia felt the whole process was very relaxing, and what made her even more happy was that she could walk on the ground after the operation, and she could go home to recuperate on the same day.

Julia is the first patient in the China-Dominican Friendship Hospital to be treated with the “Hai Fu Knife” technique. Wang Jian said that the full name of the surgical equipment used is the high-intensity focused ultrasound tumor treatment system. This treatment technology uses ultrasound ablation from in vitro to in vivo, leaving no scars and causing less damage to patients.

“This equipment is a large-scale medical device pioneered by China and has independent intellectual property rights.” Gu Junyan, the regional director of Haifu Medical in Latin America, said that so far, the “Haifu Knife” surgical equipment has been exported to Mexico, Cuba, and Dominica. , Venezuela, Argentina, the United Kingdom, Germany and other countries and regions, providing treatment for many patients with benign and malignant tumors.

In addition to receiving patients, the Chinese medical team also provides local technical training guidance and online technical support. China-Dominican Friendship Hospital has used this Chinese technology to complete the treatment of 9 patients, including uterine fibroids, metastatic liver cancer, metastatic superficial malignant tumors and other diseases.

Dominica’s Minister of Health McIntyre said that the use of the above-mentioned surgical equipment from China in the China-Dominica Friendship Hospital is a milestone, which will help Dominica patients achieve local treatment without having to go to developed countries for treatment. He sincerely thanked the Chinese government for its continuous support to various parties in the field of medical and health care.

James, CEO of China-Dominican Friendship Hospital, said that the operation of the surgical equipment further enhances the hospital’s ability to serve the Caribbean region.

“As a good friend of Dominica, China will provide assistance within its capacity to bring more benefits to the people of Dominica.” Chinese Ambassador to Dominica Lin Xianjiang attended the launch of the “Hai Fu Dao” surgical equipment in the China-Dominica Friendship Hospital said during the ceremony.

Julia is recovering after surgery. Over the past month, she has often talked about this treatment technology from China to her relatives and friends, hoping that more patients can receive treatment as soon as possible and no longer suffer from pain.
