Shoubo solicits Beijing-flavored objects from all over the world

The Capital Museum has started the upgrading and renovation of its permanent exhibitions; the Beijing Grand Canal Museum (East Hall of the Capital Museum), located in the green heart of the city’s sub-center, is in full swing. At the end of 2023, the exhibition halls of the first exhibition, one east and one west hall, will be opened to the audience with a new look. Shoubo has recently issued a “collection post” to the world to collect cultural relics related to the history and culture of the Grand Canal, Beijing’s history and culture, etc.

At present, Shoubo is promoting the exhibition planning and design of the main hall and the east hall. The exhibitions of the two pavilions closely match the strategic positioning of Beijing’s city, and interpret the relationship between “capital” and “city” from the perspective of history and culture. The exhibition in the main hall is centered on the “capital”, and the exhibition in the east hall is centered on the “city”. The combination of pearls and unique features, together to show the long and splendid history of Beijing – there are 700,000 years of human settlement history and more than 3,000 years of city-building history. , 800 years of capital history, here is the capital of the People’s Republic of China.

In order to better display the history and culture of the Grand Canal and Beijing, Shoubo collects relevant cultural relics and exhibits from all over the world, including cultural relics related to the history and culture of the Grand Canal, Beijing’s history and culture, and urban development; Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei collaboration Develop related cultural relics exhibits, etc. The collection of exhibits has a wide range of forms, including but not limited to cultural relics, physical evidence, specimens, publications, replicas, rubbings, and audio-visual documents such as photos, videos, audio recordings, and 3D scans. The collection methods include free donation, purchase and loan.

Last Saturday, photographer Liu Shizhao donated more than 1,000 photos to the Shanghai Expo, which were taken along the banks of the Grand Canal during the ride. Liu Shizhao started taking photos along the Grand Canal by bicycle from Beijing in 1981. In 2016, at the age of 68, he rode again and took pictures, which has retained many precious memories of the canal. “In the blink of an eye, the Grand Canal in the camera has undergone tremendous changes, showing the most intuitive changes in people’s lives, water protection, and cultural heritage protection on both sides of the Strait. But I also have regrets that some heritage with historical and cultural value disappeared in the camera. It’s gone.” Liu Shizhao said that he hoped that the Beijing Grand Canal Museum could display these photos, and encourage more people to participate in the cause of protecting and inheriting the history and culture of the Grand Canal.
