Eight years after graduating from university, Ji Sixuan already has a rich work experience and has found a field she is good at. Among her peers, she has achieved good results—now she is a A health blogger with nearly 800,000 followers.

On the road to success, Ji Sixuan decided to turn a corner. At the age of nearly 30, she took the college entrance examination again and was successfully admitted to Capital Medical University. Five years later, what awaited her was a job as a village doctor.

Ji Sixuan posted the admission notice

Sixuan Ji received a lot of attention after posting her admission letter online. Some people admire her courage, some admire her courage, and some do not understand her voice. As for why she made this choice, Ji Sixuan told the “medical community” her reasons.

The following is her own account, confirmed by herself before posting.

“Please give more attention to the village doctor”

I will be 30 years old soon. From the idea of studying medicine to the application and admission, it is also a coincidence when I think about it now.

Beijing Municipal Health Commission and Capital Medical University have jointly launched an independent clinical medicine (rural doctor) enrollment plan since 2017. Candidates can only fill in the major in the area where their household registration is located and graduate full-time in 3 years. , free of tuition and accommodation fees.

I got a higher vocational degree after graduation. It was arranged by the Fangshan District Health and Health Commission where I was working. I worked as a village doctor in the village clinic. There was no establishment, and the minimum service period was 10 years. If you breach the contract, you will have to pay a lot of money.

First Medical Independent Clinical Medicine (Rural Doctor) Enrollment Program

When you have the ability to help a sick person regain health, the sense of achievement and satisfaction is something that I yearn so much for. In my opinion, becoming a rural doctor is also a very meaningful thing. There is still a lot of room for improvement in rural medical resources, and these gaps need to be slowly filled by someone.

And I also know the work of rural doctors. My mother is a rural doctor. She opened a community general clinic in the suburbs of Fangshan. She built the clinic. She is the only doctor who has maintained it for 28 years,

I watched her go from a young doctor to an old doctor. For as long as I can remember, she always arrives at the clinic around 6:00 and returns at 9:00 pm. Before there was no house, our family lived in a clinic. People often knocked on the door in the middle of the night to see a doctor. My mother would open the door no matter how late it was.

Because it is in the suburbs, there are many elderly people and migrant workers with limited mobility, and some people with poor economic conditions, my mother will give them a reduction or exemption of medical expenses.

More than just seeing a doctor, the work of a rural doctor is very trivial and stressful. For example, to do physical examinations, health visits, free medical consultations, etc. to the villagers, even when the villagers die and the children are born, my mother needs to be present to record and take care of them.

Since she spends most of her time in the clinic, she rarely has a life of her own, but one thing my mother often says is that since she has chosen this career, she can’t go, maybe As soon as the front foot went out, the back foot called to see a doctor.

I have seen all of these, but in the past few years, I have clearly felt that she is powerless, more and more anxious, afraid that she will not be able to work and no one will take over, she supports me very much Becoming a country doctor, and happy to hear that I was accepted.

I think country doctors are a group that is easily overlooked. They are not as glamorous as the doctors and professors in the top three hospitals, but what they do is not ordinary at all, just like the song ” There is a sentence in “The Lonely Brave”, “Whoever says that he is a hero who stands in the light”.

I hope more people will pay attention to rural doctors, and even more children will apply to become rural doctors.

“I am not the only one who has the idea of retaking the college entrance examination to study medicine”

After receiving the admission letter, I shared the news on social platforms and did not expect it to be popular.

After posting on Weibo, Ji Sixuan attracted a lot of attention

One of the concerns is my age. I figured it out, I studied for 3 years, and then trained for 2 years. When I became a rural doctor, I would be almost 35 years old. I don’t think it’s too late.

There are infinite possibilities in life, don’t set any limits on yourself, if I can live to 80 years old, then I haven’t even finished half of it, why should I worry about the future?

After the Weibo was posted, I also found that I was not the only one who chose to retake the college entrance examination to study medicine. Many people privately told me that they were not interested in the current major and wanted to study medicine. Re-study medicine, but never had the courage.

Partial comments

When students in junior and senior year ask me this, I usually advise them to consider carefully, because medicine can only be restarted from the undergraduate level, and the time cost is too high. Consider it after you get your diploma.

If you have graduated and have worked like me for many years and still have plans to study medicine, I will check with them to see if you have made up your mind? Does your family support you? Can your time and your finances afford a full-time study life? Do you have children? Whether your parents need to take care of them, etc. These are all practical issues that need to be considered objectively.

Taking myself as an example, my first thought was to learn Chinese medicine. After understanding it, I found that there are only two ways, one is to retake the college entrance examination, and the other is to learn from an old Chinese medicine practitioner for 5 years. But my TCM friends around me persuaded me that the cost of time was too high, and I would eventually be defeated by life, and that TCM is one-way, which is different from the basic theory of Western medicine.

Actually, there are a lot of remarks about dismissal from Western medicine, such as long training time, low return rate, high pressure, etc. I have also carefully evaluated them. In my opinion, being a doctor is a high threshold thing. If you want to enter this industry, you must make efforts.

Although I have gained some voices of approval, I would like to say that I am not very good at all. Maybe I happened to encounter this policy, and my mother is a doctor. Various reasons contributed to this result.

I don’t have great ideals, and I don’t want to be awarded professional titles. I just need to become a very ordinary village doctor after graduation and serve the patients in the village well.

“Doctors and social media do not conflict”

Before becoming a medical student, studying medicine was not my first choice, and there were many work experiences in between.

During the college entrance examination in 2010, my mother wanted me to study medicine. Since liberal arts students could not apply for the exam, I did not want to do animal experiments to dissect small animals, so I studied business administration at China Agricultural University.

After graduating from my undergraduate degree, I worked in an Internet start-up company from 2014 to 2015. I did many chores. At the same time, I also applied for the professional accounting graduate student of China Agricultural University, but unfortunately did not pass the exam.

After that, I turned to content operation in the fitness field, which is similar to Liu Genghong’s live dance exercise now. Because I usually like to exercise, I have been in retreat for 4 months to obtain a professional fitness certificate, and I also like to share my fitness experience and theoretical methods on the Internet.

With some industry experience, I started trying to start a business. First, I made light-calorie snacks, similar to the current fat-reducing snacks. I didn’t make it after a year and a half. Later, I made a linen clothing brand with others. As the partners ran away, this project became yellow.

Until the rise of We Media, I found that my articles, videos and other content were quite popular, so I started to focus on We Media, and now there are nearly 800,000 fans on all platforms.

Part of the video content

There are also voices who question my “hype and bring goods”. In fact, I never thought that I would be paid attention to by so many people, I was flattered, and there was no hype. I do not deny that I have an income from working in the media. Since I was a big student, I have never asked my parents for money. My living expenses and tuition are all earned by myself as a Taobao store model, and from shooting magazine pages.

Being a doctor is not in conflict with being a self-media. Now there are many doctors doing self-media. I also hope to spread more professional medical knowledge and help more people.
