Eating wild vegetables in daily life

The following points should be paid attention to

↓↓ ↓

1. Do not pick and eat unfamiliar wild vegetables

There are many kinds of wild vegetables on the mountain, and many of them are poisonous. Whether or not wild vegetables are poisonous is basically impossible to judge from their appearance. Therefore, it is recommended that people do not look for novelties when picking and buying wild vegetables, and try not to eat unknown wild vegetables.

2. Don’t eat too much, just try it early.

Most wild vegetables have a bitter taste. The bitterness in wild vegetables such as dandelion and radicchio is caused by alkaloids and has certain toxicity. Such wild vegetables have health-care effects if eaten properly and are beneficial to the body. If you eat too much, it will cause certain damage to the body. In addition, pregnant women, lactating women, young children, the elderly, and people with long-term spleen and stomach weakness and deficient cold are recommended not to eat or eat less wild vegetables.

3. To eat wild vegetables, fry and cook them thoroughly

Some of the toxic and harmful components in wild vegetables can be reduced or removed by sufficient heating. For example: Colchicine in wild day lily can be destroyed when the temperature is 60℃. Therefore, when eating, you should first blanch the fresh day lily in boiling water, then soak it in water for more than 2 hours, remove it, wash it with water, and then fully fry it for consumption, which is safer.

4. Avoid eating wild vegetables polluted by heavy metals and pesticides

When picking wild vegetables, be careful to avoid polluted areas. Wild vegetables growing on the side of the road are easily polluted by harmful substances such as lead and mercury in the exhaust gas of automobiles. Once these harmful substances accumulate on the wild vegetables, they cannot be completely removed. Wild vegetables grown in parks and communities may also be contaminated by pesticides that prevent pests and become inedible.

5. If you feel unwell after eating wild vegetables, seek medical attention immediately

Different wild vegetables have different poisoning manifestations. Generally, the symptoms of wild vegetable poisoning are mild, and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, and diarrhea are common. There are also neuropsychiatric symptoms such as headache and dizziness. Therefore, once poisoning is found, induce vomiting in time, and immediately seek medical attention with the remaining wild vegetables and vomit.
