Outpatient clinic for minimally invasive thyroid therapy in Hainan Cancer Hospital

On February 24, 2022, the outpatient clinic for minimally invasive thyroid therapy in Hainan Cancer Hospital officially opened.

Thyroid nodules, although the incidence is very high, are much less harmful than other tumors. Yu Shuyong, vice president of Hainan Cancer Hospital and head of the minimally invasive thyroid treatment clinic, introduced that more than 90% of thyroid nodules are benign, and malignant nodules only account for less than 10%. Therefore, patients with thyroid nodules need not be too anxious, let alone panic.

“Early inspection, early diagnosis, and early treatment are the ‘good recipes’ for all tumor treatments, and thyroid nodules are no exception.” Yu Shuyong introduced that most benign thyroid nodules discovered in time can be cured. Minimally invasive ablation technology is used for treatment. The “needle” of the ablation device is only the thickness of a toothpick. Compared with open surgery, the first is that the trauma is small. With local anesthesia, the patient can move independently after surgery. Second, the normal thyroid tissue between the nodules can be preserved to the greatest extent, without affecting thyroid function, and long-term use of thyroid hormones and other drugs is not required after surgery; third, no scars are left, and the appearance of the neck is not affected.
