On April 15, the Fujian Provincial Joint Purchasing Center for Pharmaceuticals and Equipment issued the “Notice on Publicizing the List of the Second Batch of Chinese Medicine Formula Granules Listed on the Net”.
According to the “Notice”, a total of 3,511 products of different specifications entered the public announcement list, involving 7 pharmaceutical companies, namely Jiangyin Tianjiang, Guangdong Yifang, China Resources Sanjiu , Beijing Kangrentang, Sichuan New Green, Shenwei Pharmaceutical, Peili Pharmaceutical.
Compared with Fujian’s first public list, Sichuan New Green, Shenwei Pharmaceutical and Peili Pharmaceutical are newly added pharmaceutical companies. Among them, Sichuan New Green and Peili Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. are the six designated enterprises that originally piloted the production of traditional Chinese medicine granules, and have long occupied the domestic market of related categories.
Besides the “Six Great Masters”, the only one qualified to be listed on the Internet is Shenwei Pharmaceutical. Shenwei Pharmaceutical is a leading enterprise of traditional Chinese medicine in Hebei. According to the 2021 annual report, its annual revenue is 3.224 billion yuan, of which the revenue of traditional Chinese medicine formula granules accounts for 21.5% of the annual revenue.
In addition to being eligible for listing in Fujian Province, in March this year, some of Shenwei Pharmaceutical’s traditional Chinese medicine formula granules were also included in the supplementary list of centralized procurement in Gansu Province.
In February 2021, the “Announcement on Ending the Pilot Work of TCM Formula Granules” was officially released, and restrictions on the production and use of TCM formula granules will be lifted. Previously, six pilot enterprises controlled the relevant domestic market. The days are officially over. Before this, many provinces have approved local enterprises to supply formula granules in the province, and Shenwei is one of the designated enterprises in Hebei.
Under the influence of centralized procurement, traditional Chinese medicine formula granules cannot escape the outcome of “exchanging price for quantity”. Fujian has successively announced two batches of TCM formula granules listed on the Internet, involving nearly 10,000 specifications, which may mean that provincial-level centralized procurement of TCM formula granules will be carried out earlier.
