New findings: Causes of diabetes vary widely between men and women

There is a group of people who are busy day and night in the outpatient ward, doing monotonous and trivial work: giving patients injections and infusions, turning over and wiping their bodies, monitoring their body temperature and blood pressure… Their hard work protects people’s lives and health.

Today is the 111th International Nurses Day, let’s pay tribute to these lovely “white guards” and learn a few daily health care tips together.

I. Have you mastered the correct time for oral hypoglycemic drugs?

1. It is best to chew acarbose with the first bite of rice. Meals contain certain carbohydrates, such as rice, noodles, etc., so that they can exert their maximum effect.

2. After oral administration of metformin, it may irritate the gastric mucosa, causing nausea, vomiting, and abdominal distension, so it is suitable for oral administration after meals.

3. It takes half an hour for Gliclazide to take effect, so taking the medicine half an hour before meals has the best effect.

4. Glyburide is taken half an hour before breakfast, once a day.

5. Repaglinide is taken orally 5 to 20 minutes before meals. If it is not taken orally on time, it may cause hypoglycemia.

6. Pioglitazone is taken once a day on an empty stomach in the morning.

2. What matters should be paid attention to in home blood pressure monitoring?

1. Selection of sphygmomanometer: It is recommended to use the upper arm oscillometric automatic electronic sphygmomanometer for measurement, and choose the appropriate one according to the circumference of the upper arm cuff.

2. Correct posture for blood pressure measurement: Rest on a chair with a backrest for at least five minutes before taking the measurement, relax your legs, and bind the cuff to one side when measuring blood pressure The forearm is placed horizontally on the table, and the middle part of the upper part of the cuff is tied to keep the water level with the heart.

3. Measurement time: It is very important to measure blood pressure in the morning, which is called morning blood pressure. Measurements should be taken within one hour of waking up, before taking antihypertensive drugs, before meals, and before strenuous exercise. Blood pressure measurement at night can be selected one hour after dinner or one hour before bedtime. Also, please remember that you need to empty your bladder when taking your blood pressure.

Third, what should people with high blood lipids pay attention to in their diet?

Many people have high blood lipids, which is actually closely related to diet. People with hyperlipidemia should not only avoid high-fat and high-cholesterol foods, but also pay attention to controlling meat and maintaining high dietary fiber intake. The staple food is mainly coarse grains, and it is ensured that the daily diet contains sufficient vegetables and fruits. The food taste should be light and less salty, and try to eat less food with high salt content such as pickled vegetables, salted duck eggs, and cured meat. Lean meat is rich in protein, which is an essential nutrient for the human body. If patients with low uric acid, they can eat more fish.

Also remember to drink more water, because patients with hyperlipidemia have higher blood viscosity, slower blood flow, and are prone to the risk of thrombosis. Reduce blood viscosity to a certain extent and keep blood circulation smooth.
