National Liver Love Day: Experts call for attention to hepatitis C treatment, expand screening to achieve early diagnosis and treatment

Xinhua News Agency Client Sichuan Channel, March 18 (Li Ji, Dong Xiaohong) March 18 is National Liver Love Day. The theme of this National Liver Love Day is “National Participation, Active Screening, Standardized Diagnosis, cure hepatitis”.

Professor Tang Hong, director of the Infection Center of West China Hospital of Sichuan University, introduced that everyone is familiar with hepatitis B, but many people do not know the harm of hepatitis C. In fact, hepatitis C is highly insidious. Most hepatitis C patients are asymptomatic after infection and have not received standardized treatment for a long time. Hepatitis C may lead to liver cirrhosis and liver cancer, seriously endangering human health. Therefore, it is necessary to pay attention to the harm of hepatitis C. “If there are high-risk factors for hepatitis C virus infection, active screening should be carried out to achieve early detection, early diagnosis, and early treatment.” Professor Tang Hong said.

Professor Tang Hong pointed out that the transmission of hepatitis C includes blood transmission, mother-to-child transmission and sexual contact transmission. In daily life, behaviors such as sharing toothbrushes and piercing ears may also cause the spread of hepatitis C virus if the mucous membranes are damaged and bleeding. Due to the occult nature of hepatitis C, many infected people fail to take the initiative to screen and treat in time, so that they develop to the stage of liver cirrhosis and liver cancer.

At present, Sichuan Province has accumulated a lot of practical experience in the prevention and control of hepatitis C. Feng Liao, deputy director of the STD and AIDS Prevention and Control Institute of the Sichuan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, said that with the inclusion of innovative drugs into medical insurance reimbursement, the conditions for eliminating hepatitis C are now available. But due to insufficient testing, many infected people did not receive early treatment. Therefore, the hepatitis C elimination action requires government leadership, departmental cooperation, and the joint participation of the whole society, to establish a sound management mechanism for detection, treatment and follow-up, so as to achieve “exhaustive examinations that should be checked, and those that are willing to be checked” for high-risk groups.

It is reported that experts such as Tang Hong also called for the inclusion of hepatitis C antibody testing in health check-ups and pre-marital medical examinations, so that more patients can take the initiative to receive screening and treatment, so as to achieve “exhaustive examinations” and implement It should be cured.” (End)
