National Health Commission responds to nucleic acid false positives

China Daily, May 23 (Reporter Wang Xiaoyu) Guo Yanhong, supervisory commissioner of the National Health Commission’s Medical Administration and Hospital Administration Bureau, said at a press conference on the Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council held today that although the specificity of nucleic acid testing in my country is 100 %, the laboratory may lead to false positives due to contamination during the test and operation process, and individual laboratories do not strictly follow the prescribed working procedures to cause false positives. However, this does not mean that the sensitivity of nucleic acid testing to the Ormicon strain has decreased. The use of nucleic acid detection can detect infected people as early as possible, lock the scope of infection, and play a key role in the “outpost” of epidemic prevention and control.
