National Health Commission: my country has launched 130 million free cervical cancer screenings

On May 30, the National Health and Health Commission held a press conference on the progress and effectiveness of maternal and child health work since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Wang Linhong, chairman of the Women’s Health Branch of the Chinese Preventive Medicine Association and chief expert on chronic diseases of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, was present at the meeting. Shang said that since 2009, the state has included two cancer screenings into major public health service projects, providing free screening for the majority of rural women. In order to further improve the coverage of two cancer screenings, two cancer screenings have been included in basic public health services since 2019. As of 2020, the two cancer screenings have covered nearly 2,600 counties and cities, with a total of 130 million free cervical cancer screenings and 64 million free breast cancer screenings. Through early screening, early diagnosis and early intervention, many sick women can receive timely assistance.
