(Fighting against New Coronary Pneumonia) More than 23,500 confirmed cases in Thailand have set a record since the epidemic
China News Agency, Bangkok, February 24 (Reporter Wang Guoan) Thailand officially announced on the 24th that there were 23,557 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in the past 24 hours, setting a record since the outbreak; 38 new deaths were reported.
On the same day, 22,240 positive cases were detected by rapid test kits (ATK) in Thailand, but these cases were not included in the official confirmed data, otherwise there would be more new cases in Thailand that day.
Previously, the highest single-day new confirmed case in Thailand was 23,418 on August 13 last year, with 184 new deaths on the same day.
Thailand Ministry of Health officials said that due to the rapid spread of the Omicron strain, the number of infections in the country has increased rapidly, but the severe and fatal rates are low. The new crown epidemic is evolving in the direction of a seasonal epidemic.
The capital Bangkok added 3,236 new confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia that day, still ranking first in the country.
Due to the recent surge in confirmed cases, Thailand has raised the epidemic alert level from level 3 to level 4 (up to level 5), but the authorities said that blockade measures will not be imposed for the time being.
The Thai government decided on the 23rd to relax the regulations for inbound tourists. From March 1st, the mandatory nucleic acid test after entry for international tourists will be reduced from 2 to 1, and the medical insurance that needs to be purchased will also be reduced from the original 50,000. The US dollar is adjusted to at least US$20,000 to attract more tourists to Thailand.
As of the 24th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Thailand is close to 2.8 million, and the cumulative number of deaths is 22,768. (End)
