Liu Baoyan: Acupuncture should be based on domestic and international

Liu Baoyan, chairman of the World Federation of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, recently proposed that Chinese acupuncture should be based on domestic and international perspectives, and contribute to the construction of a human health community.

Traditional Chinese medicine is a great creation of the Chinese nation and a treasure of ancient Chinese science. Traditional Chinese medicine embodies the essence of traditional Chinese culture, is an important part of people-to-people and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and is a unique link between Chinese civilization and world civilization.

The development of acupuncture and moxibustion is at the historical opportunity of the right time, the right place, and the people. The development of acupuncture must be based in China and focus on the world.

China’s anti-epidemic experience shows that acupuncture can improve personal immunity, give full play to the value of traditional Chinese medicine in the prevention and control of epidemics, and can also be popularized and applied in areas where epidemic prevention materials are not rich to relieve the pressure of epidemic prevention and control. Help cut off the transmission route. In addition, the acupuncture treatment plan has the advantages of being safe, feasible, easy to operate, and less side effects.

Liu Baoyan, President of the Chinese Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, proposed that in order to make acupuncture the main force of traditional Chinese medicine services and an international model, international communication should be carried out with needles and medicines.

The first is to give full play to the role of overseas patriotic and overseas Chinese acupuncturists in the spread of acupuncture. Establish overseas branches, further open up online acupuncture and moxibustion, establish new international contact methods, and link online and offline.

The second is to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with international organizations such as the World Health Organization, the International Organization for Standardization, UNESCO, and the United Nations Economic and Social Council. In particular, give full play to the advantages of the headquarters of the World Acupuncture Association in China.

Finally, the Chinese Society of Acupuncture and Moxibustion and the whole acupuncture and moxibustion community actively participate in and jointly promote the “Belt and Road” acupuncture activities. Efforts will be made to make it a brand activity of “people-to-people bond and mutual learning of civilizations”.
