Japan adds 11 new cases of childhood hepatitis of unknown etiology, bringing the total to 47

According to a report by Nippon TV on the 10th, the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare announced that as of the 9th local time, Japan reported 11 new cases of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology in children, with a total of 47 cases reported. Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare said none of the 47 cases had undergone liver transplantation, of which five tested positive for the new coronavirus and three were positive for adenovirus.

On April 25, Japan reported its first case of acute hepatitis in a child of unknown etiology. Japan’s National Institute of Infectious Diseases said in a report released on May 27 that there is no sign of an increase in acute hepatitis infections in children of unknown etiology in Japan, but it will continue to collect relevant information from various countries.
