The deep integration of heavy ions and traditional Chinese medicine marks the official birth of the comprehensive tumor treatment model of integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine + heavy ions.
Professor Mi Denghai, President, Doctor and Chief Physician, Gansu Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Oncology, Wuwei Academy of Medical Sciences, Gansu Province Ye Yancheng, president of the hospital, and Song Jian, president of Pei Zhengxue Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine, attended the event.
At the ceremony, the Cancer Hospital of Wuwei Academy of Medical Sciences and Pei Zhengxue Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine signed an agreement on “Professor Pei Zhengxue’s Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Clinical Experience Base”. The two parties will cooperate closely with the common goal of inheriting the essence of the motherland’s medicine and consolidating the foundation of tumor diagnosis and treatment, fully leverage the experience of inheriting traditional Chinese and Western medicine, give full play to the characteristics of heavy ion precision treatment of tumors and the advantages of the overall treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, and improve the clinical application of traditional Chinese medicine. At the same time, we will expand and strengthen the tumor treatment technology of heavy ions, precise minimally invasive and low side effects, provide a new model of tumor treatment for the majority of tumor patients across the country, establish a new path for tumor treatment, lead new thinking in tumor treatment, and create a new pattern of tumor treatment.
The Heavy Ion Center of the Cancer Hospital of Wuwei Academy of Medical Sciences has installed the first Chinese heavy ion tumor therapy system. It is still the only heavy ion system made in China that has been put into clinical use in the country. It began to treat patients in March 2020. So far, 543 patients have successfully received heavy ion therapy here. The diseases treated include more than 40 diseases such as lung cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, and glioma. The comprehensive tumor treatment model of integrated traditional Chinese and Western medicine + heavy ions will be the first to be carried out in the Cancer Hospital of Wuwei Academy of Medical Sciences to benefit the majority of tumor patients.
