He wrote 8 words with his once paralyzed right hand, and the hemiplegia rehabilitation man wrote the pennant and presented it to the doctor

Wuhan Client of Changjiang Daily, May 11th (correspondent Li Han, reporter Xie Dongxing) The man in his 50s suffered a sudden cerebral infarction. After rescue, he developed right hemiplegia sequelae. With the help of doctors and rehabilitation specialists, he wrote a pennant with his once immobile right hand and presented it to the medical staff.

55-year-old Mr. Liu lives in Tianmen, Hubei. He is busy with work and often stays up late. In the past two years, he often suffered from dizziness and headaches. In October last year, he suddenly experienced symptoms of difficulty in moving his right limbs and speaking inconveniently. He went to a local hospital for examination and was diagnosed with cerebral infarction. Thrombolytic therapy had no obvious effect. He was transferred to the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University overnight, where the neurosurgeon performed the operation to save his life, but he remained hemiplegia, the right limb was completely unconscious, and he was unable to speak normally.

At the end of October last year, Mr. Liu was transferred to the Neurological Rehabilitation Department of Zhongnan Hospital for rehabilitation. The doctor in charge Hao Chizi and the rehabilitation teacher Yu Lei made a personalized rehabilitation plan for him: while helping him recover his limb function through exercise therapy, he also carried out language training to help him recover his pronunciation. At the same time, medical staff accelerated his recovery through transcranial magnetic stimulation, acupuncture massage and biofeedback. He was treated and trained for more than 8 hours a day.

In the early days, Mr. Liu was often depressed and gave up on himself. Hao Chizi, his doctor in charge, invited a number of patients with similar conditions to Mr. Liu who had recovered successfully to train with Mr. Liu every day. Rehabilitation teacher Yu Lei used the rest time to accompany him to the playground for a walk to exercise his limbs. After nearly half a year of unremitting efforts, Mr. Liu’s physical and language functions have basically recovered, and his life has resumed to take care of himself. Before leaving the hospital on May 11, he wrote “Superb medical skills and noble medical ethics” with his once paralyzed right hand, and photocopied the handwriting into a pennant and gave it to the medical staff.

“Although the handwriting is not neat, it has witnessed the recovery of the patient. This unique pennant is also the best affirmation of our work.” Yu Lei said that hemiplegia is a common sequela of patients with cerebral infarction. Rehabilitation treatment is inseparable from the timely treatment of medical staff, as well as professional, systematic and scientific rehabilitation training; however, the curative effect cannot be immediate, and the patient’s own understanding and persistence are required to achieve the ideal rehabilitation effect.
