Embarrassed! Unexpectedly, the fishbone will not only get stuck in the throat, but also get stuck in the anus

Going to the ENT department in the hospital with a fishbone stuck in the throat is an experience that many people have had. And Ms. Zhao, who lives in Danyang, the fishbone she swallowed was pulled out by a Chinese medicine surgery!

The fishbone taken out

“Because this fishbone is really ‘unusual’, it is not a card In the throat, but stuck in the anus!” On April 2, the hospital told reporters.

Half of the buttocks was red, swollen and sloughed, but no progress was made in seeking medical treatment

In mid-March, Ms. Zhao, 55, suddenly felt pain around the anus, especially when defecation. , a little force is a burst of pain. At first, Ms. Zhao suspected hemorrhoids, but it did not ease after self-medication. After a few days, the perianal area began to become red and swollen, and Ms. Zhao was restless all day, so she rushed to the local hospital for treatment. After several days of anti-inflammatory treatment, Ms. Zhao’s condition did not improve. Every day, the pain was so painful that she could not eat or sleep, and everyone lost weight.

Research on the condition

Because the exact cause could not be found, the family quickly transferred it to Zhenjiang Jiangda Affiliated Hospital (also known as Jiangbin Hospital) for Chinese medicine surgery. “The redness and swelling of the patient’s anus is constantly expanding, and there are multiple skin blisters and molting. The results of routine blood tests show that after anti-infective treatment, the inflammation is more serious than before treatment.” Gao Yongjin, the attending physician of traditional Chinese medicine surgery, told the Reporter, so I suggested that she do a lower abdomen + pelvic CT examination to clarify the infection and abscess.

A slender fishbone actually “traveled” to the anus

CT images showed that there was a long high-density shadow inside the paraanal mass. Based on this, Gao Yongjin asked Ms. Zhao carefully and learned that she had no trauma recently, and no foreign body pierced into the anus.

To unravel the mystery, only surgery to remove the foreign body. On March 24, Gao Yongjin performed anal foreign body removal for Ms. Zhao, and a toothpick-shaped foreign body about 2cm long was removed. After careful identification, everyone was surprised to find that the foreign object was actually a fishbone!

Ms. Zhao felt incredible when she learned that it was actually a fishbone that had tortured herself so much for the past few days. After careful reflection, she remembered that she had eaten fish once before she became ill, but she was not caught by the fishbone at that time.

“The fishbone should have been swallowed unconsciously by the patient. Because it didn’t get stuck in the throat, the patient didn’t feel any abnormality. This fishbone is also quite ‘magic’, and it actually went all the way from the mouth. During the defecation process, the rectum was punctured and penetrated into the paraanal space, resulting in a perianal abscess.” Gao Yongjin said.

Introduced by Gao Yongjin, in this way, Ms. Zhao is lucky. Because the fishbone is easy to get stuck in relatively narrow parts such as the pylorus, ileocecal valve, and sigmoid colon during the “journey” of the digestive tract. “If the gastrointestinal wall is punctured, it will cause bleeding and infection, and local abscesses may be formed; if the intestinal wall is punctured, it may also cause serious consequences such as peritoneal abscess or peritonitis.” After symptomatic treatment such as hemostasis and anti-infection after surgery, Ms. Zhao The perianal abscess regressed significantly, the blood routine examination showed normal, and the reexamination of the lower abdomen + pelvic CT showed no foreign body residues. At present, she has been discharged from the hospital, and she only needs to go to the hospital regularly to change her medicine.

Reminder:

What should I do if the fishbone gets stuck? It is very rare for Ms. Zhao to get stuck in the anus by fishbone, but it happens quite often.

When a fishbone gets stuck, many people think of swallowing rice and drinking vinegar for the first time. Not only does swallowing rice balls fail to help the bones pass through the esophagus, it can also cause perforations. The esophagus is softer than we thought, with 3 physiological strictures, which are easily damaged or even punctured by fishbone. Vinegar can soften the fishbone, but you need to drink a lot to achieve the effect of softening the fishbone. When the fishbone is not softened, people may be “sour”.

Gao Yongjin hereby reminds that if the fishbone gets stuck, don’t try to swallow the fishbone with food! Start by opening your mouth as wide as possible, and if you can see the fishbone, gently remove it with your hands or tweezers. “If you can’t see the fishbone, you should go to the ENT department of the hospital immediately. Note that it is an ENT department, not a stomatology department.”
