Most lumbar process stimulation does not require surgical treatment. Most of them can significantly improve symptoms and return to a generally normal life through drug treatment or physical therapy, lumbar maintenance and other treatments. Only about 15-20% of patients require surgery.
The following situations require surgery:
(1) Conservative treatment is ineffective. Some patients go to the hospital, and the doctor tells them that conservative treatment is not suitable, but they do not listen to the advice. As a result, they increase the pain and cost a lot of unjustifiable money. There is no effect at all, and it leads to serious incontinence.
(2) Conservative treatment is effective, but the symptoms are repeated and the pain is severe. Because repeated recurrence affects work, income and positions are greatly affected, and even confidence and expectations for life are affected.
(3) Those with severe pain. Seriously affect life, usually low quality of life.
(4) Symptoms of nerve numbness, muscle atrophy, weakness or compression of the cauda equina nerve (disturbance of defecation and sexual function). All of the above means that the nerve is compressed, and if it takes too long, it will lead to nerve degeneration, which is not good for future recovery. Surgery should be done as soon as possible.
