The black water pheasant is a bird of the genus Water pheasant of the Crane family, also known as the red crown water pheasant, the red bone top, the red bird, and the Jiang pheasant. This bird spreads all over the world, inhabits various natural or artificial freshwater wetlands, and usually lives below 1700 meters above sea level. The black water chicken has been listed as the national three protected birds. Blackwater hen chicks are black, juveniles and sub-adults turn gray and white, adults turn black again, chicks are covered with black down feathers, 3-day-old can swim, 8-day-old can dive, male and female feed together to take care of the young Birds, and sometimes sub-adults of former litters, are also involved in the care of the chicks.
