A 95-year-old veteran of the Anti-Japanese War was admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College due to myocardial infarction. Many departments of the hospital set up a team of medical and nursing experts. After 2 hours of surgery and more than 20 days of postoperative treatment, the heart was reborn, and the old man recovered and was discharged from the hospital. On April 1, the old man came to the hospital for a review and expressed his sincerest gratitude to the medical staff.

On the morning of December 16 last year, the Cardiovascular Department of the hospital urgently admitted an elderly patient and immediately entered the intensive care unit Hospitalization. The family told the doctor that the old man suddenly felt severe pain in the chest area and back at home, and there was no obvious sign of relief in a short time. After careful examination and comprehensive analysis by experts, the diagnosis was myocardial infarction. After several days of hospitalization and observation, Grandpa Luo’s pain symptoms gradually eased, but he was in a dilemma as to how to carry out the next treatment: Grandpa Luo is 95 years old and has underlying diseases, so the operation is very risky. If surgery is abandoned, the condition cannot be fundamentally improved. Grandpa Luo, family members, and experts were all under enormous pressure. The Cardiology Department established a medical and nursing expert group and decided to use coronary angiography, IVUS and stent implantation.

On the morning of January 6, 2022, after more than two hours of waiting, Grandpa Luo successfully completed the operation, setting a new record for the super-aged patients undergoing coronary stent surgery in the hospital. During the days of recuperation after the operation, Grandpa Luo was deeply impressed by the meticulous care and concern of the medical staff. “During the more than 20 days and nights when I was hospitalized, the doctors came to my bedside to inquire about the current state of my body at any time. If there was any abnormality, they would use instruments to check the small changes in my body and adjust the treatment plan that suits me at any time.” Before the bed , everyone learned that Grandpa Luo’s other identity: Volunteer Soldiers to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea! “In 1950, I participated in the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea. Now, my challenge is to fight the disease.” Grandpa Luo’s strong and optimistic spirit not only encouraged the patients , also moved the medical staff in the department, “We feel inspired and proud of this kind of patriotic education around us!”

I am just a passer-by in their long career. , but they are the guardians of my life!” Grandpa Luo, who regained his “heart”, wrote this affectionate paragraph in his thank you letter.
