A 12-year-old girl suffered from severe abdominal pain during gymnastics at home, and her fallopian tube was removed after admission

Recently, “Shuttlecock Exercise” has become popular on the Internet. However, clinically, there have also been cases of admission to the hospital due to jumping exercises.

On April 28, The Paper reporter learned from the Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University that on April 26, the hospital admitted a 12-year-old girl who suffered severe abdominal pain due to improper dance exercises at home. . When the girl was admitted to the hospital, an inflammatory reaction had already occurred. After a detailed examination, the doctor suspected that a torsion of the appendix was likely to have occurred.

The doctor performed surgery on the girl. Intraoperative exploration found that tubal torsion had indeed occurred, and eventually the affected side of the fallopian tube had to be removed.

“Appendix torsion” refers to the complete or partial torsion of the ovaries and fallopian tubes on their supporting ligaments, which often leads to obstruction of their blood supply, resulting in ovarian or fallopian tube edema, necrosis, infarction and even loss of function. very dangerous.

Ding Yan, deputy chief physician of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Fudan University Affiliated Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital, said that the most common clinical manifestation of torsion of the appendix is sudden localized lower abdominal pain, with or without nausea and vomiting. Pain symptoms often occur when there is a sudden change in body position, such as strenuous exercise, after impact, etc., and may also be induced during trauma or gynecological examinations. Torsion is also more likely to occur when the size of the uterus changes during pregnancy or during the puerperium.

“In the emergency department of gynecology, there are not a few patients who have emergency surgery because of the torsion of the attachment every year, and ‘vigorous exercise’ is the culprit.” Ding Yan pointed out that the torsion of the attachment is not a “patent” for adult women , can occur in any age group, the most common in women of childbearing age, followed by childhood and adolescence. In children and adolescent girls, torsion occurs most commonly after vigorous physical activity, resulting in lower abdominal pain.

Ding Yan further pointed out that ovarian cyst patients are more prone to torsion. When the pedicle of the diseased ovarian cyst is torsion, the blood vessels and ligaments supplying the ovary are twisted, and the ovarian blood flow is blocked, which will lead to the rapid growth of the tumor. Or cyst necrosis and rupture, secondary infection.

The above experts suggest that women with ovarian cysts should avoid strenuous exercise and do shuttlecock exercises. It is best to slow down and avoid sudden changes in body position. It is recommended not to try it lightly.

Ding Yan also suggested that female friends should have regular gynecological examinations, gynecological ultrasound once a year, early detection of ovarian cysts, early intervention, especially prenatal examinations before pregnancy. If ovarian cysts are found, they should be treated as soon as possible in accordance with the principles of diagnosis and treatment. If it is a follow-up observation period, be careful not to exercise vigorously, and you can change to gentle exercise to avoid the ovarian cysts twisting under the action of gravity due to changes in body position when you get up quickly or twist your body. If you experience sudden lower abdominal pain, etc., please seek medical attention immediately.
