Shi Weiyun is the main researcher of the clinical trial of the collar-type artificial cornea in my country. The research group led by him mainly focuses on the development, production, preclinical and clinical trials, and unifies the artificial cornea implantation in my country. Preoperative examination and screening criteria, surgical operation and postoperative medication, and diagnosis and treatment criteria for postoperative complications. On July 15, 2019, the first clinical trial operation of collar-type artificial cornea independently developed in my country was successfully implemented in Shandong Eye Hospital, filling the gap in domestic artificial cornea research.
Shi Weiyun said that from the perspective of functional orientation, my country still lacks national key laboratories focusing on clinical application and basic research in the field of ophthalmology. At present, 90% of the high-end clinical examination equipment, surgical and medical equipment and ophthalmic drugs in the field of ophthalmology clinical diagnosis and treatment in my country are products of European and American countries.
Eye health has been mentioned in national strategies as an important part of overall health. In order to develop the application foundation of ophthalmology in my country and to provide high-level and high-quality products in a timely manner, Shi Weiyun suggested to lay out key ophthalmology laboratories in the following directions:
1. The State Key Laboratory of Basic Ophthalmology for Clinical Application, which is oriented by the needs of key clinical technologies and equipment, led by ophthalmology clinical researchers as the main body, and fully participates in cross-science, rapidly upgrades and solves high-end advanced clinical examination equipment, surgical and medical equipment and High-yield core technical issues of ophthalmic drugs.
Second, establish a key national or regional laboratory for basic ophthalmology with sub-specialty clinical application in ophthalmology major blind eye diseases. The innovative key laboratory of ophthalmology with joint research and interdisciplinary integration, realizes breakthroughs in basic research on the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmic diseases, research and development of diagnosis and treatment technology and medical devices, and fills the domestic gap.
