Xu Shuqiang, director of the Department of System Reform of the Health Commission, introduced that in recent years, my country’s health talent team has made great progress.
First, the total amount of resources increased steadily. In 2021, the total number of health personnel in my country will reach 13.983 million, including 4.287 million licensed physicians and licensed assistant physicians, and 5.018 million registered nurses.
Secondly, the educational level has been improved. During the “Thirteenth Five-Year Plan” period, the proportion of health technicians with a bachelor’s degree or above increased from 30.6% to 42.1%.
The third is the continuous optimization of structure and distribution. In 2021, among the national health personnel, health technicians will account for 80.4%, and the degree of specialization will continue to increase.
