Overseas Network, July 21st The World Health Organization held a press conference on the 20th to report on the global monkeypox epidemic. According to WHO’s official website, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press conference that nearly 14,000 confirmed cases of monkeypox have been found in more than 70 countries around the world.

Tedros introduced that most of the confirmed cases of monkeypox that have been reported worldwide are in Europe. Of the confirmed cases, five have died, all in Africa.

“While some countries are seeing a downward trend in monkeypox cases, there are also countries where monkeypox cases are still climbing. Last week, six countries reported their first cases of monkeypox,” Tedros said. “Some countries have less access to diagnostic tools and vaccines, making the epidemic more difficult to track and stop.” (Yao Kaihong from Overseas Network)
