What is the plague?

The plague is a type of plague caused by the bacterium Yersinia pestisZionia Acute and severe infectious disease is a typical natural foci disease. It has the characteristics of acute onset, short course of disease, rapid spread, high mortality and strong infectivity.

The source and route of transmission of plague

The sources of infection of plague are:

(1) Plague infected animals. Animals that are naturally infected with plague can be used as the source of infection for human plague. The most important source of infection is rodents such as marmots, chinchillas, gerbils, yellow-breasted mice, and brown mice.

(2) Plague patients. Mostly pneumonic plague patients, which are contagious in the early stages of the disease.

The transmission routes are:

1. Transmission from animals-fleas-human , mostly bubonic plague. When the virus-carrying flea bites other mice or humans, the germs are injected into the mice or humans to form an infection.

2. Transmission through person-to-person air droplets. The plague bacillus in the sputum of patients with pneumonic plague can be transmitted through the respiratory tract through droplets and dust, causing human plague epidemics.

3. Transmission through skin and mucous membranes. The skin, viscera, blood, sputum, pus and blood secretions of infected rodents and other rodents can be infected through damaged skin and mucous membranes.

Although the plague is terrible, it can be prevented and controlled. Don’t panic!
