What is glomus tumor?

Glomus tumor, also known as glomus tumor, spherical hemangioma, angioneuromus Tumor is a rare soft tissue benign tumor that occurs in the neuromuscular bulbar arteriosus, accounting for less than 2% of soft tissue tumors. ), about 75% occur in the hands, of which 95% occur under the nail. The clinical manifestations are often marked with tenderness and spontaneous pain. In severe cases, the tenderness is characterized by severe radiation. The subungual areas are mostly lavender or dark blue nodules. Some fingers (toes) are severely damaged. Bone destruction can be seen. The disease occurs in young and middle-aged women around the age of 40.

Why is this disease easily missed and misdiagnosed? Fang Jian’s analysis: First, due to the rarity of this disease, many clinicians have insufficient knowledge and are prone to misdiagnose other diseases; Examination, such as X-ray, CT, etc., may have no obvious positive manifestations, but high-frequency B-ultrasound and MRI have good diagnostic significance for glomus tumor; third, the disease is mainly localized pain, and sometimes ordinary anti-inflammatory drugs are taken orally Pain medicine can be relieved, and the symptoms are intermittent, which is easy to make the patient slack off the treatment, causing the patient to be unhealed for a long time and suffer from the pain of the disease all the year round.

Currently, complete surgical resection of the tumor is an effective treatment for this disease. Therefore, once a painful glomus tumor is diagnosed, it should be surgically treated. Subungual glomus tumor can be performed under local anesthesia. According to the location of the tumor, part of the nail is removed, and the nail bed is incised and retracted, which can be seen in the nail bed. The underlying round, intact capsule is pink or purplish red, small tumors with clear margins. The wound usually heals in about 2 weeks. When multiple glomus tumors do not have pain, no special treatment is required. For patients with obvious pain, laser treatment can be used to relieve pain. If necessary, the painful skin lesions can be surgically removed.
