Lhasa, July 11 (Reporter Yuan Quan) After five years of reconstruction, expansion and various preparatory work, the new Tibet Museum opened a few days ago.

The new Tibet Museum covers an area of ​​65,047 square meters, with a total construction area of ​​61,843 square meters, including exhibition areas, collection storage areas, leisure service areas, cultural relics protection research areas, and comprehensive office areas. The exhibition area of ​​the whole museum is 16,431 square meters, and the area of ​​the collection storage area is 10,417 square meters.

The new building of the Tibet Museum has a collection of more than 520,000 pieces of cultural relics, including more than 40,000 pieces (sets) of precious cultural relics. According to reports, the new Tibet Museum has greatly improved in terms of building volume, cultural relic preservation conditions, and public service facilities. The new museum has launched two basic exhibitions, “Long Songs in the Snowland – Tibetan History and Culture” and “The Person closest to the Sun – Tibetan Folk Culture”. “People’s Daily” (July 12, 2022 Edition 04)
