World Gut Health Day, Yakult calls for life and gut to ‘get back on track’

May 29, 2022 marks the 18th World Gut Health Day. At this time of year, Yakult conducts a series of popular science activities across the country, calling on people to pay attention to gut health.

From May 23rd to August 31st this year, Yakult used the theme of “‘Benefits’ to balance bacteria, and ‘intestine’ to enjoy health'”, using popular science videos, interactive H5, offline popular science activities, etc. In this way, popularize the knowledge of gut and probiotics. Focusing on the theme of this year’s “World Gut Health Day” to prevent colorectal cancer, Yakult calls on consumers to have a balanced diet, regular work and rest, so that life and intestinal health “return to the right track”.

Transmitting Gut Health Knowledge

Since 2005, the World Organization for Gastroenterology has designated May 29th every year as the “World Gut Health” Health Day” to arouse the public’s attention to gastrointestinal health, and this year’s official theme is “Colorectal Cancer Prevention: Back on Track”.

The “2016 Cancer Incidence and Mortality in China” released by the National Cancer Center shows that colorectal cancer has become one of the top five malignant tumors in terms of mortality, with an equal incidence in both males and females. There is an upward trend, and the incidence of colorectal cancer in urban areas is higher than that in rural areas. Therefore, it is particularly important to have a balanced diet, regular work and rest, and maintain intestinal health.

Focusing on the theme of this year’s “World Gut Health Day”, Yakult launched a series of activities of “‘Benefit’ to balance bacteria, ‘intestine’ to enjoy health”, calling on consumers to exercise, exercise in moderation; adequate sleep, regular Work and rest; respect for convenience, cultivate regularly; emotional management, happy mood; balanced diet, supplement probiotics.

Explore the health function of probiotics

Talking about the effect of probiotics on intestinal health, Yakult stated that probiotics, as one of the daily dietary supplements, It can increase the beneficial bacteria in the intestines and maintain the balance of intestinal bacteria. The “Scientific Consensus on Probiotics (2020 Edition)” pointed out that nearly 10,000 published academic papers have studied the various functions of different probiotic strains, confirming that the core function of probiotics is to improve the human gastrointestinal tract. Yakult has been exploring the function of probiotics for more than 90 years. Yakult has never stopped exploring in the field of probiotics and intestinal health since Dr. Shirota, the founder of Yakult Group, cultivated Lactobacillus casei Shirota strain, a probiotic that can reach the intestine alive. At the same time, in 2016, he and Suzhou Municipal Hospital jointly carried out “Observation on the efficacy and safety of probiotics combined with mesalazine in the treatment of ulcerative colitis”, etc. According to Yakult, these studies have all been published and achieved certain results, providing scientific evidence for demonstrating the effectiveness of probiotics.

Based on scientific research, Yakult also disseminates gut health knowledge as part of its corporate social responsibility.
