On May 18, Mr. Zhang, a 53-year-old from Xi’an, Shaanxi Province, developed sputum and cough without obvious cause, and had a fever for more than 10 days. He took anti-inflammatory drugs by himself and went to a local hospital for treatment, but his symptoms became more serious.
Afterwards, Mr. Zhang came to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Medical College for treatment. According to Li Yaming, the attending physician of the Department of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, when inquired in detail, he learned that Mr. Zhang is a carpenter. He often devours food while working, and his symptoms have been recurring for three years. In the past, many hospitals were treated for pneumonia, and it was relieved after the injection, but it would recur soon after.
Dr. Li Yaming said that in addition to coughing and expectoration, Mr. Zhang also suffered from chest pain on the right side, chest tightness, shortness of breath and other symptoms.
After bronchoscopy, the doctor found a section of pepper about 1 cm long in the basal segment of Mr. Zhang’s right lower lobe , almost completely obstructing the lumen, and the surrounding tissue hyperplasia is obvious. Dr. Li Yaming said that the chilli remained in Mr. Zhang’s lungs for three years.
Afterwards, the doctor removed it in stages through surgery. At present, Mr. Zhang’s symptoms have eased and he is recovering well.
Dr. Li Yaming reminded that you should chew and swallow slowly when eating daily, avoid gobbling, talking loudly, chatting and laughing.
