National Health and Medical Commission: The national medical-to-nursing ratio reaches 1:1.17, and the problem of the inversion of the medical-to-nursing ratio has been fundamentally reversed

CCTV news: On the morning of May 11, the National Health and Health Commission held a press conference on the development of nursing care since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Guo Yanhong, the supervisory commissioner of the National Health and Health Commission’s Medical Administration and Hospital Administration Bureau, introduced at the meeting, In terms of quantity, by the end of 2021, the number of nurses nationwide has grown to 5.018 million, an increase of about 2.52 million or 101% over 2012.

During the development of the nurse team, it is especially inclined to the grassroots to meet the health and nursing needs of the grassroots. The number of nurses engaged in nursing work at the grassroots level will reach 1.15 million in 2021. In 2012, that is, ten years ago, there were only 528,000 nurses at the grassroots level, an increase of 620,000 and doubled. In recent years, with the development of medical and health services and the development of nursing, many positions have a great demand for male nurses, and the proportion of male nurses is also increasing. By the end of 2021, among the more than 5 million nurses in the country, the proportion of male nurses will account for 3%, which is a lot higher than the 1.8% in 2012. The number of registered nurses per thousand population has also increased from 1.85 in 2012 to 2021. 3.56 people in the year. The national medical-to-nursing ratio has developed from 1:0.95 in 2012 to 1:1.17 in 2021. Therefore, the problem of the inversion of the proportion of medical care can be said to have been fundamentally reversed.

Guo Yanhong said that while the number of nurses continues to increase, the training of nurses will be vigorously strengthened. Now the education, quality and professional service ability of nurses are constantly improving. The proportion of nurses with college degree or above will increase from 56% in 2012 to nearly 80% in 2021. Therefore, the growth of the number of nurses and the improvement of their capabilities, the expansion of service areas and the improvement of technical capabilities for nurses, should be said to be one of our foundations. Therefore, these achievements in the construction of the nurse team have also played an irreplaceable role in maintaining the safety and health of the people.
