The founder of the Yuan Dynasty carried out a policy of genocide, massacred as many as 18 million Han Chinese and southerners, and 90% of the Han civilians in northern China were almost genocide. Before the massacre, there were an estimated 13-20 million people in Sichuan, but after the massacre there were less than 800,000 people, almost a no-man’s land.
