Primary school students’ choreography to resist campus bullying, why is it “popular”?

Behind the “popularity” of the anti-school bullying dance video is the public’s expectation of strengthening anti-bullying education.

According to media reports, on April 9, a dance video against school bullying was widely circulated on the Internet. The entire video was 1 minute and 24 minutes long. Second. In the video, several students wore school uniforms and danced to interpret the process of being bullied, conveying the idea of resisting bullying on campus, which aroused heated discussions among many netizens, who all said: “This theme was chosen too well”, “It was too well filmed”… …

This dance video can be on the “hot list”, maybe even the choreographer didn’t expect it. The choreographer was Ma Chaoqun, a physical education teacher at Jinsha Primary School in Zhengzhou City. He told reporters, “The purpose of shooting the anti-school bullying dance video is to let everyone pay attention to school bullying and keep children away from school bullying.” And he himself was bullied as a child.

In fact, in 2016, the Ministry of Education and other nine departments issued the “Guiding Opinions on the Prevention and Control of Bullying and Violence among Primary and Middle School Students”, which clearly required that all localities should carry out prevention of student bullying and violence. special education. The primary school teacher organized students to shoot anti-school bullying dance videos, which is an effective way to carry out bullying and violence prevention education, and is conducive to forming a consensus among students to resist school bullying.

It is even more important to see that behind the attention this video has attracted, it reflects the public’s expectations for strengthening anti-school bullying education. Education departments and schools should first face up to the negative impact of school bullying on students’ physical and mental health, rather than “avoidance”.

Over the years, my country has attached great importance to the governance of school bullying. The newly revised “Minor Protection Law” implemented on June 1, 2021 also defined student bullying for the first time, further clarifying the responsibilities of schools and guardians. The law also states that schools should establish a work system for student bullying prevention and control, and carry out education and training on student bullying prevention.

However, the reality is far from satisfactory. After the incident of school bullying, for fear of affecting the school’s reputation and school performance, the common way to deal with it is still that the school hopes that parents are “private”, and considers school bullying, which is a public issue, as a school’s “family scandal”.

With this attitude towards the governance of school bullying, it is difficult to take the initiative to carry out in-depth school bullying prevention education for students, and it will not take place in the campus and the campus around the classmates. Bullying incidents, as a typical case to educate students.

The key to reversing this situation is the establishment of student bullying governance committees that really work. The “Regulations on the Protection of Schools for Minors” implemented last year also made it clear that schools should establish a student bullying management organization with extensive participation of relevant personnel, and be responsible for the prevention, publicity and education of students’ bullying behavior, organization identification, implementation of corrections, and assistance.

The establishment of a student bullying management committee to investigate and deal with bullying incidents will change the school-led identification method of student bullying, and its identification conclusion will be more neutral. It is easier to convince the parents of students.

For the Student Bullying Management Committee, it is not only necessary to formulate the school’s school bullying management plan, but also to supervise the school to implement prevention work in all aspects of daily management, and constantly improve relevant The system and rules and regulations will eventually form a long-term mechanism to prevent and control campus bullying, and jointly build the campus into the safest and most sunny place.
