Good book sharing – “A Long Dog”, “A Cat Walking Upright”

[Today’s Good Book Sharing]——Art Comics

“A Long Dog” + “A Cat Walking Upright” Illustrator: [French] Jean Julien, Text: [ French] Lebec + [plus] Robert (translated by Zhang Wei)

Last time I introduced the series of children’s books “This is not a book” made by the French painter Jean Julien. He turned picture books into toys, allowing readers to read People have a high sense of participation.

The two books shared this time are story picture books co-authored by him and two writers.

Simple cartoon drawings, thick black lines, and solid-colored backgrounds allow adults and children alike to notice the rich expressions and antics of the characters in the story.

I tried to understand the author’s meaning even without reading the text. This set of books has a reading method that can be read by children aged 3-5 to adults.

“A Long Dog” features a seemingly “annoying”, “space-occupying” puppy, kind of like a very small child. After reading this story, adults will learn to accept imperfect people and things, while children will see growth and a little bit of strength from the puppy, and their hearts will be comforted.

In the story “A Cat Walking Upright”, we will see the most cat-like “cat”. Maybe after reading this story, adults will learn more than children. Keeping an open mind and getting rid of “stereotypes” are the topics we adults should learn the most.

A good picture book is always ageless.

Thanks to the artist and author for creating a seemingly simple but memorable little story.

Break the routine and think creatively about everyday things. Authors always remind us to see the world in a new light.
